I have recently started working out at a gym and am looking to tone up. I am 5'8, 139 llbs. And almost 50! Oops, did I just say that out loud? I don't want to lose weight. Oh, I also just quit smoking too. Looking for advise on calorie intake, proteins, etc.. Thanks!

Congrats on quitting the cancer sticks! What are your goals?
  • Hi Ann! That is a healthy weight for your height and age, so weight loss is not priority (like you say). MFP is great place for leading a healthy lifestyle in general, however. Congrats on quitting smoking and moving towards a healthier you! As far as caloric intake, it depends on your activity level, etc.

Here is a great link for calculating your TDEE:

Aim for 1 gram of protein for each pound you weigh. In your case that is roughly 139 grams each day.

Feel free to add me. Hope this helps!
