nicely done. In a similar situation as you although I've been here before. I have managed to break the 100 kg mark last week I think I have plateaued but on the plus side I am still under the 100 kg mark. I still have about 32 kg to go.

That's why it is probably a good idea to have a range of measures. Such as weight, body fat % ans body measurements. Just because the scale does not move it does not mean that you're not losing fat it could be building muscle. BTW I was "stuck" on 102 KG and now I am "stuck" on 99.9 kg that 100 grams means a lot to me since…

Well done just completed w5d1 not sure how I'll go for the dreaded 20 min job.

It's great I'm not sure on accuracy but I do know if I step up workout to get into the "zone" Fat burning and or cardio zone I am finding that my walks duration is shorter and my pace is better ie covering same distance in less time. from Fitbit heart rate FAQs.…

I am similar to you but I started in Oct 2012 (age 49) I lost about 12 kg up until Oct 2013, for those 12 months l did not log my food properly and just did my 10 000 steps as per my fitbit ,thought I was doing good.Stopped logging altogether, started skipping my daily walks and not wearing my fitbit result I've put the 12…

Thanks that's what I was looking for.I still have ~77 lbs (36kg) and I have set it as 2lbs loss. So I should follow the revise calorie intake then and redo when Iose another 2 lbs. etc..

Why do you say that? I have a fitbit force, waiting on the charge HR. I find it helpful as I can track various statistics automatically ie I jump on the Aria fitbit scale it updates my weight and body fat % ,With the HR monitor I believe that will log automatically as well. Just by looking at these stats provides me with…

I cheat well kind of. I weigh every morning when I get up if the weight has gone up, I weigh myself after my daily workout and that normally brings me down o:). My routine in the morning when I get up, weigh myself, check and log blood pressure, heart rate, measure body, stomach, chest, neck, biceps, forearm, hips, thigh and…

Agree completely I was referred to one by my doctor think went for one session and never returned. I was still in denial at that stage. My wife was with me and laughed when they showed me portion of steak I could eat which by the way is the same portion I am using today. So it's like any other tool and depends on how you…

Yeah I use the fitbit aria scales which shows 37%. Using the calipers and I get ~35% mine isn't digital. I also use the US Navy Calculator - Body Fat Calculator and that comes out at 31%. I think you will have fluctuations. By doing all three I know I my body fat is at least thirty something. Guess the only accurate way is…

Agree with sjaplo shoes make a huge difference.

Just to add to vandesa post is not all about the weight on the scale. I am taking daily measurements of my body so even if the scale does not move the inches may have. It also gets you to take stock of what you have achieved for example when I hopped on the scale this morning I was about 500 grams heavier I know you're…

51 here, also decided to get to my goal weight and needed to lose 90 lbs before I turned 50. As you can see I've had a bit of a hiccup. I lost about 30 lbs the first time round and put that back so I have to lose 80 lbs since I rejoined at the beginning of the year So far this time round I have been doing great but still…

It's like the saying when you fall off the horse just get back on. I know I went AWOL for the whole of 2014 and put back all I lost. I re-started on the 27 Dec counting my calories and tried to be honest when counting even when I knew that it would push me over my allotted quota.Doing that put my mind in the correct space…

51 here second time round finding that I am losing weight relatively easy since I started but I suspect that it will stabilise soon as I am grossly overweight. TBH I will settle to being overweight instead of obese. Soon I will have to work extra hard to get the kg's off. on a side note your comment that you're a runner…

In case you didn't know, you can link your fitbit to MFP the calories burned will show in MFP and the calories consumed will be shown in the fitbit dashboard. I like it that why since I am monitoring my BP and quality of sleep through fitbit and I have everything in one place I use MFP for the detail of what I am eating.

Hi Kiwilass if you need any fitbit friends as well as MFP you can add me www.fitbit.com/user/238N2T. I will try and challenge you to at least walk 10 000 steps each day. I walk for about an hour each day in the morning to get those steps in. My first time round just doing that and logging what I ate, I lost 12kg thought I…

Hi I think I need to write this in Word and copy and paste :D . Second time newbie, are you doing the C25K I have started it and it's not so taxing on the body yet since it allows you to slowly build up to running 5K. I am about to complete the first week (second time round) I do love my seconds guess that's why I'm the…

I have the following ailments high blood pressure, sleep apnea, cholesterol, overweight. My brother died of a brain aneurysm been 10 yrs now. I am pretty sure he suffered from sleep apnea and had high blood pressure and that still didn't motivate me. I did get tested for sleep apnea shortly after his death and even then I…

I guess it's up to the individual I try to log everything since it's quite easy to get on the slippery slope to not log anything at all. I know that happened to me first time round I continued with my workouts but I was not losing any weight and then stopped the workouts and put on weight. I believe you need to do whatever…

Hi second time as well. Just stop which I regret now ( put on 15kg) but have been logging my meals religiously since I started again. I've lost 5KG since I started after Xmas determined to log everything. Like you I used to have cravings to eat all the time what I found helped instead of having breakfast at 6AM, then a…

No Sydneysiders until now :D been using on and off for past couple of years back now and determined to see it through to my goal weight. Lost a couple of kg but that's mostly water.Whatever you do make sure you logged everything you eat that's the strength of MFP.

I am using the fitbit as someone mentioned it measures your sleep pattern. It is pretty accurate since I suffer from sleep apnea and the graph it showed was similar to my CPAP machine report. Do you need it to lose weight probably not but it does make it easier to monitor. What I also like about my fitbit is the ability to…

That is really good this is my second time round my first time I dropped 24 pounds to 220 from 244 I put that back last year and here I am again. So to see you lose 45 pounds in 5 months is truly inspiring, when it took me a whole year to lose 24 without doing any exercise beside walking. Makes me believe I can get back on…
