*meds (Not mess) Also, I've had no appetite, mostly just craving fruit and drinks. I'm happy to 'maintain' while I'm sick, but honestly having trouble eating much of anything.

Hi there, Any strong ladies out there who might be my twin? Here's my stats: 5'9" HW. 198lb CW 180lb GW around 165lb! I see lots of people with a HW of 165lb in here while that would be my ideal weight! :) I have a physical job, so I have some muscles that I need to keep! Looking to lose the layer of fat over them though.…

Ooooh yes, I would say this describes me too. I have photographs from high school where my legs and arms look like an Olympic athlete - and I didn't really do much except cycle a bit. Even now in my late 30s I have 'guns' (albeit covered by a thin layer of fat, but they're there) and I don't lift weights. I do have a…

I just want to say how awesome this thread is. Seriously. How are you this awesome? I don't have a question. I'm only at the beginning of my weightloss journey, but I've learned so much good, practical info from this thread that's really helping me clarify where I want to go with this. So thanks for both- the awesome,…

I found that increasing my protein intake (especially for breakfast and lunch) really helps with the hormonal cravings. Actually, with all cravings in general. Being active, like you mentioned, helps too. I also used to suffer from blood sugar crashes. I'd get the shakes and my legs would feel weird. So awful! Again, more…

Interesting points. I guess for me 'hormonal' hunger is more defined as unhelpful cravings. My body might be burning more calories during my TOM, which is awesome, but it's making me want empty calories and chocolate, which isn't helpful. I'll endulge up to a point, but I'm not going to fool myself into thinking this is…

Interesting. How do tell 'phantom' hunger from 'genuine' hunger? Is it just what time of day it is?

Oooh yes. Posting here to add you all later! Working hard to lose 15ish more pounds to get to 165lbs. I'm only tallish at 5'9.

Thanks for sharing this. I think there's a LOT of people on these forums that have an unhealthy obsession with 'clean food' Sometimes I read posts and think that diet and nutrition has become someone's religion or belief system. Everything in moderation.

LOL Bless them. Bless those scientists with their lack of marketing skills :p

Grumpiness and low spirits for me is a sure sign I need to eat. I make sure I choose something healthy with some protein. A black tea (like English breakfast) or a cup of coffee helps, too, but only temporarily.

I'm constantly iron deficient. My doctor says most women are. I discovered I love liver :) Iron from animal sources is easier for our bodies to absorb than plant iron. So yeah, I try to buy some good quality, non-medicated liver when my butcher has it in. Mussels are also good. I order those when I see them on a menu.…

This is a great idea. I'm 2 weeks into a 'no-weigh zone' and I love the freedom! I love eating clean anyway, and I'm enjoying the bit of added exercise. I'm feeling stronger and have lots of energy. I know I'm eating right, I can deal with the dullness of logging... but not when the scale stands still for weeks at a time.

I get these sometimes. And I'm pretty sure it's not a breathing thing... For me it's often near the middle of my cycle, so around ovulation. I've had it so bad I thought I'd pass out. I've been checked for endometriosis and I'm clear, so, at least for me, that's not the cause. If you do a google search you'll find dozens…

i frikken love smoothies BUTTTTTT!!!! ya gotta be careful what you put in them. Here's my bestest recipe: 1 cup water 1 cup orange juice (I like Tropicana fortified with calcium) 1 cup frozen raspberries (other berries are good too but the raspberries are nice and sour + bonus fibre) 1 scoop whey protein powder (vanilla) 1…

Has the cause of your back pain been diagnosed? I know you said you fell off a horse, but did you break something? Is it a disc issue? Scar tissue? (Probably a combination of things at this point) My wife (and I, to a lesser extent) has back pain issues, specifically sciatica, but also muscle tension in her upper back and…

I was in a similar situation. I started my MFP as 'sedentary' but logging EVERYTHING, so that would include logging all your walking. The only danger there is that MFP seems to be very generous in the number of calories it assigns to exercises, so the general consensus on the forums seems to be to 'eat back' no more than…

I used to bike everywhere and had enormous 'biker thighs' and butt. I think (and this is my totally unscientific opinion) that I naturally build quite bulky muscles quite quickly. I used to be self conscious about it. If you're unhappy with the body shape your exercise routine is creating, change it up. Look for activities…

I try to order something from the tandoor, like tandoori chicken or fish. It's oven baked and usually doesn't come with a sauce. Delicious, though. Sometimes dishes like sag aloo (potato & spinach) or potato and cauliflower dishes are not too fatty as well. Not filling your whole plate with rice and eating the chunks of…

I'm more of the 'get it over with and face reality' type. Is rather know my challenge before I start.

In case anyone's interested in reading more about habits and how we change them, here're some links: http://www.brainpickings.org/2014/01/02/how-long-it-takes-to-form-a-new-habit/ http://www.brainpickings.org/index.php/2012/09/25/william-james-on-habit/…

This is such a great question with SO MANY excellent responses. I find it helpful to think of myself and much of my behaviour as simply a collection of habits. Some good, some not so good, most I didn't choose or decide to make part of my life, they just sort of... happened. And the great thing is that once I became aware…

I also looked at the keto/ extremely low carb diets as I have some friends who are having huge success with it. I decided it wasn't for me for a couple of reasons: 1. I can't see myself eating like that for ever, which means it's a quick-fix diet. What's the point of that? Spending weeks learning a completely different way…
