  • It's such a relief to see that I'm not the only one that had a "fall off the wagon" day yesterday! Yesterday afternoon I got random anxiety that triggered a binge that lasted ,off and on, till bed time. Some was low carb but a lot was wheat thin crackers and gingersnaps.
  • I don't think I've tried the Swerve (erythritol) yet. Not knowingly anyway. Splenda bothers me , too. I've been thinking of making ice cream using the erythritol and stevia. The sugar alcohols in the sugar free candy give me wicked gas! I hope the erythritol doesn't!
  • @SamandaIndia They have dry mustard, even in the canned ones. That was one of the first things I reacted to. Our family ate baked beans every Saturday when I was a kid. Now I substitute a 1/4 tsp of turmeric and 1/4 tsp of ginger for the mustard. Horseradish is good in them , too. Or a but of cayenne or hot sauce.…
  • I am severely allergic to mustard in any and all forms. Pollen, mustard seeds, dry mustard, etc. I get hives all over and my throat swells shut. Anaphylaxis. It is in so many things! I've learned to make things like barbecue sauce, baked beans, etc. without mustard.

  • Here in Maine it's been cool and cloudy for a week or so. My sibling turned the furnace off the first of June and I've been sooooo cold!

  • 91. That's better than the last few days.
  • Thanks folks , I'm struggling with feeling bone chilling cold. Probably electrolytes. Having a cup of hot bullion to see if that helps.

  • Mine has dropped to 5.6 . The Dr. Wants me to stop Metformin , but I don't dare. I cut it from 2000 to 1500 and my fasting BG jumped 20 points overnight. Ugh!

  • What about a timer or "talking stick" ? I've been to meetings where everyone has a 2 minute limit ( or whatever is deemed appropriate) and the leader moves them on at that point. If the rule is the same for all it should not single her out to make her feel badly.
  • @KnitOrMiss. Thanks! Those look so yummy! I wonder if pre cooking the bacon a little would help. Does the cheese slide out when they are turned?

  • Do jalapeños become less hot with ribs and seeds removed and then cooked? I often find them too spicy for me raw. I do love poblanos , though.

  • Thanks all of you. Couldn't have done it without the support of this group!
  • @nvmomketo. I agree that fresh peas can be well worth it as a"carby indulgence" I'm looking forward to our coming from our garden, too. Sweet corn on the cob is one that is hard for me to resist. Hope your BG issues don't really develop into T1 . Keep on keepin on....
  • @nvmomketo. I forget are you on metformin? I find taking it with supper helps keep the Morning BG down some. Peas will put my sugars up big time.
  • I'm thinking a boob lift and tummy tuck would be grand , but not sure I can justify it at my age. (63). I think my bmi is about 29 now at 146 lbs and 5' 2" . I'd like to lose another 15-20 lbs.
  • Had a "shore dinner" on the at a little place on the coast of Maine , about an hour from our home, last night. Lobster, clams and 1/2 an ear of corn on cob. Lots of melted butter for dipping. Did have a small dish of no added sugar ice cream on the way home though. On the whole it was a success! First ice cream in about…
  • Keep up the magnesium. That might help with the constipation. See the Launch Pad. I do take a fiber supplement and eat lots of green veggies.i do occasionally spend some of my carb allowance on 86% dark chocolate. I 'm not the only one , either
  • We had beef and bean taco salad tonight. No picture, sorry to say. I did not have corn taco shell unlike the rest of my family. I figured the beans , tomato salsa and onions would have as many carbs as I can handle. Wish I'd gotten a pic. We did have cilantro from the garden.
  • I have to buy new jeans again! Third time since January! This is getting expensive! Am really nervous about wearing a knee-length dress to my neice's wedding next weekend. I haven't worn one that length in 20 years or more.

  • Yep. I agree with you all. Constant and eternal vigilance is required of folks like us. Sigh....
  • I aim for 50-70 total. Some days it's only 40ish. Carbs from veggies bother my BG less than grains or beans.
  • @foamroller. I thought I was getting enough electrolytes , but I will try your suggestion. Ate supper and am feeling warmer for the first time today. Pasta sauce with zucchini and onion, an Italian sausage and 1/2 c of high protein pasta. Did have a pickle and some of the pickle juice a few hours ago along with an ounce of…
  • @kelley0519 ..no I have not felt any warmer.
  • My main symptom is coldness. I keep my electrolytes up easily and am more active than I used to be. I am almost always bone chilled cold, even on a 70 degree plus day.
  • Usually around 50 to 70 g per day. That helps keep my BG under control.
  • Made Cauliflower (mock potato ) salad last night. Not bad but still needs tweaking. Used mostly the stem parts of the cauliflower.
  • Back to 91 this morning
  • Might be lack of magnesium.
  • 104 this morning. Had 1/2 c strawberries last night before bed. Usually around 90.
