  • Had one at lunch today. Used pizza blend cheese and pepperoni , heated in a dry skillet. Quesadilla style but pizza flavor. Dipped in spicy red pepper tomato sauce.
  • They always worked fine for me. I simmer them for several hours to extract as much flavor and gelatin as possible.

  • 1 fried egg, 1/2 slice bacon 100 grams cantaloupe, coffee with cream and 1/4tsp coconut oil.

  • If I eat 1100 calls a day my weight loss stalls. I'm not tall(5'2") and my thyroid is borderline low normal. Not low enough for them to prescribe anything but low enough to slow metabolism.   • I find that my maintenance point is about 1100 calories. If I eat more than that I gain. I have gone from 228 to 148 over the last 6 years. I hope to loose 20 more lbs over the next year or so. I have no idea what my maintenance level will be then. I'll remain low carb the rest of my life.
  • Yes after several days of restricting carbs " meticulously " I have finally gotten under 150. 148.9 this morning! What a whoosh! Thanks for the encouragement.
  • Those Chinese pot sticker dumplings are so good! I think if I just eat the meaty filling it would be ok. The lovely dough puts my BG up too high.
  • Folks here in Maine used to make mince meat pies with venison or beef. Plus the dried fruit, usually currents and raisins. My mother used a vegetarian recipe that used green tomatoes in place of the meat with raisins. It's the spices that make it so yummy.

  • Logging most everything even, oops. Grain , even low carb wraps sets off cravings and BG rise. Got below 150 last week and then got off track and bounced up. 3 lbs . Been all weekend getting it off again. Not below yet , but getting there. Feeling lonesome and discouraged .
  • I do a weekly plan for dinners. Breakfast is usually about the same each day and lunches are often eaten out.
  • I thought I could handle some low carb wrap breads over the last few days , but they have triggered carbs cravings.   • Sometimes it may seem to be about the food, but is really about the sharing and connection between people. Another theory is is what we call the " Eve theory of sin" . As in Eve offering to share the apple with Adam.
  • Yay! Happy dance for you! I' almost ready for my happy dance. I'm about 7 lbs from initial goal . SW 187 CW 149. GW 143. Started in October 2015. I think I may set a new goal of 130 after I see how I do at 143 for a while. No matter what I'm low carb for life due to diabetes.

  • Yep, when my husband was alive I would have him lock "treats" in the file cabinet, cause I couldn't trust myself to stay out of them. Now if there are cookies around I tell myself" they are not yours to eat" . That usually works. Cookies , etc. are " not food".

  • Carrots don't transplant well. They will make deformed roots, so toss those. lettuce and spinach you can thin gradually , tossing the smallest ones but when you think the next ones are large enough to eat just pull every other one for salad.   • @Deena_Bean , thin the carrots when they have first or second true leaves. The ones that look like parsley rather than grass. They should be 1/2 to 1 inch apart.   • Sigh... I'm going to have to endure hunger the rest of my life. Even HFLC eating can only help just so much. I can only hope I have the vigilance to continue for the next 20 years.
