Go to a store that specializes in running. Have a professional fit you. It is very important to get the right fit. The wrong shoes can screw up your whole running goal. I go to a place called fleet feet. Everyone has different needs. No two person's feet are alike.

I have been using MFP to track calories so that I can truly track each calorie and staying at or below 1200 a day is crucial. I eat fruits veggies, lean protein, greek yogurt and dairy and only whole grain on workout days. I started in November 24, 2014. I'm down 36 pounds. I'm 9 pounds within an all time low. I'm 55. If…

I love to be outside. I powerwalk, jog and ride a bike. I go to gym 2 times a week for cardio and strength training. I live in South Florida so the weather here is awesome.

My husband had a minor heart attack in October. He now has a stent and is on four different medications. We always lived an active lifestyle and thought we were eating healthy. I have put on 30 pounds in the last 5 years while going through menopause. All these variables coming together have caused me to really reevaluate…

I sautéed them in a tsp of olive oil and garlic and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.

Never tried it but I love spaghetti squash in place of pasta. Have you tried that?

Your food choices will largely depend on whether or not you are nursing your baby.

You are so burning calories! All activity is counted. When I started I was doing 30 minutes of cardio. Now I do 60-70 minutes at a much faster pace. The trick is to work up to it. Keep going and celebrate yourself with non-food rewards!

That sounds like my typical Friday night

I find that using the app to track is a new healthy habit. I'm not boring people by talking about every calorie I consume. I just log it and I'm ready to eat. If your friends/family take issue with it then maybe you could express how important their support is to you.

Started 11/22/2014 at 212 pounds. Today I'm 176. Goal set for 168. I'm 5'10 female. Doing 1200 calories a day, exercise 5 days a week. Lots of cardio and light weights for toning. Oh did I mention I'm 55? I feel amazing now. Post menopause, ladies there is life after menopause.

No matter what the scale says I feel like I need to be 5 pounds thinner. It's like I don't let myself enjoy and celebrate when I make goal. I hate that about myself.

Eat clean. Whole foods, lean protein, veggies and fruit. Healthy fats, olive oil, avocados and nuts. You will feel so much better.

I have not posted anything on Facebook. I get lots of support from MFP and I try to give support as well. At work people have noticed and I share if asked. My family knows and they are supportive too.

Ryann I love your attitude. So true and inspiring. I'd love to friend request you

Eating out is the problem. You cannot control the sodium that is in the food. You had a couple of meals out. You should not restrict calories too low as your weight loss will slow down because your body goes into starvation mode. Flush out the salt with a lot of water. Eat clean! That means lean proteins, loads of veggies,…

From reading your post I can see you have this figured out. So many people cannot even imagine what an undertaking this getting healthy is all about. You gave yourself and your family the gift of time. You were right 100% mental. Wishing you many happy years to enjoy with your loved ones.

My husband had a heart attack. He is healthy now, thank God! It was a wake up call. I decided that in taking care of him that I needed to take care of myself.

It can be done. I started thanksgiving week. To date I've lost 22 lbs. it is math, plain and simple. You have to put yourself on a specific calorie intake and stick to it. Create a calorie deficit and you will lose weight. Everyone can do it. Burn off calories and only take in a controlled amount. I'm on 1200 calories a…

I agree with Daisyls85. Planning is key. You've got to commit to the lifestyle. We all have busy lives. When you are really ready something deep inside will click and your focus will shift. Give it some thought.

You look amazing! Are you healthier now? Is your heart doing better?

I'm 55 and I eat real food. I call it clean eating but the definition varies depending on who you ask. What I do is whole foods, lean protein and whole grains. NOTHING PREPACKAGED. I eat beef, fish, pork and chicken. I eat tons of fresh veggies, fruit and reduced fat cheeses. Healthy fats...olive oil, avocado and nuts. I…
