Squats will give you strong legs, back, and core, which equals sexy legs, back and core. Not to mention the booty! As for size, you shouldn't see massive gain.

If you've never squatted before, start with body weight squats. It's important that you learn the form before you get under the bar, to prevent injury to yourself. Google "body weight squat", or "goblet squat" as a beginner squat exercise. Gradually, you'll learn the movement and then you can get under the bar. Good luck!

Fat is soft, as you lose weight you will get smaller as the fat is lost. If parts of you that you don't consider "fatty" feel soft then I would look at your exercise routine. Are you lifting weights? If not, you might want to think about it. Strength training will build muscle and help you burn fat at rest. You can't tone…

Yup, I'm back on track too. Consistency is key for me, just because I had a couple of days eating holiday foods does not mean I am going to stop eating healthy and working out!

I take it for insulin resistance, which goes hand in hand with PCOS. I also am careful with my diet and exercise regularly. Hopefully with weight loss, my insulin resistance will go away and I will eventually be able to come off it. Metformin does cause some stomach upset, so be careful to take it with a meal and drink…

You are probably overestimating what you eat. Do you log your food on MFP? I can't see your diary. Also, size 14 is very acceptable. When I was in my 20's I was a size 14/16 and I thought I was fat. Looking back at photos from that time, I wasn't fat, I was a total fox. Young women have a lot of pressures from society to…

I love a protein shake. Boiled eggs are good too (the only way I can really eat eggs). Also, as others have said, greek yoghurt. Be sure to not get the stuff already mixed with fruit as it usually has a bunch of sugars etc. added (some brands do anyway). I buy Fage 2% or 0% as my supermarket doesn't stock full fat. Mix in…

Beast - Nico Vega. Has been on my playlist for months and I never get tired of it. Anything Can Happen - Ellie Goulding Aerials - System of a Down Masterpiece - Jessie J Starships - Nikki Minaj Flawless (remix) - Nikki Minaj ft. Beyonce YAAAASSS! I think I have Sound of Madness, I need to check my playlist. Oh and thank…

If you enjoyed the paleo lifestyle the first time around and felt good, then go for it. You must weigh your food though. I did paleo a while back (couldn't stick with it, too restrictive) but like you, I gained weight because many of the paleo books and blogs discourage calorie counting and food weighing. As a result, I…

I wear a heart rate monitor and lift three times a week. After my weight lifting I then do 3 sets of body weight matrix, which is basically body weight exercises performed without rest, with a 90 second rest between sets. It's all about getting your hear rate up and moving. If you lift heavy, like deadlifts for example,…

I'm not a huge fish lover but I have discovered that blackend salmon is the bomb.com. You can google for the spice recipe, there are lots out there. I sprinkle the spice on the fish and heat the oven to 400 degrees. I then heat a cast iron pan to medium high and pop the fish in, skin side up, for about 1 minute. Then I put…

Oh and what I think is most important is, you have to want it, to lose weight and change yourself. If you don't want it bad enough, it's not going to get done.

Find a routine in the gym that you enjoy. I can't just walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes because it bores me silly. I love lifting weights and now that I have realized this, I look forward to it. It sounds like you need to spice up your routine. As for music, you have more songs than the ones on your current playlist,…

I eat between 1400 and 1800 calories per day. It does fluctuate. Feel free to add me!

Exactly.

Of course they are going to be hard if you are just starting. Don't give up though! If you can hold plank for a couple of seconds it's better than nothing. Sit ups are overrated btw, plank all the way. Oh, and if you are trying to *just* lose weight off your belly you need to be more reasonable with yourself. You can't…

I love soup and have a small 160z thermos flask that I take with me. It stays warm about 5 hours so that could be an option for lunch.

What works for one person isn't going to work for another. You are just starting out, so go slow. Start off with walking 30 minutes a day. Or three times a week. Then, add some bodyweight movements like bodyweight squat, elevated pushup and lunges. Go slow. Don't listen to those who are telling you to work out twice a day…

I'm 5ft 4 and 218 lbs so I'm roundabout your size and weight. Firstly, the weight is not going to come off overnight. It's going to take time and you need to be patient. Set your MFP goal to something less aggressive, like 0.5lbs a week. It might not sound like a lot but if you incorporate exercise you are likely not going…

Moderation. It's taken years and many "diets" for me to realize that I do not succeed when I am cutting out entire food groups etc. So far it's working for me. I love to bake and haven't given that up, I just don't do it every week. I also love chocolate but don't eat it every day. I feel very empowered knowing that I can…

I too believe that if you find something that you enjoy, you will continue to do it. I love lifting weights and look forward to going to the gym. I do have times when I don't want to go/feel tired/lazy etc. but I make myself. I remind myself that I will feel great afterwards.

StaciMarie and Liftng4Lis thank you for your advice. It's good to be around people in a community who have been using MFP for a while. I reset my goal to 0.5lbs per week, which bumped my calories up to 1800 per day. I exercise 5x per week (3 of those days are lifting) and can earn a potential of 400 cals per day based on…

Oh and feel free to add me as a friend, I need as much encouragement as I can get and will gladly reciprocate!

VRotberg, I too inhale my meals. One goal I have is to eat slower and at the dining room table, so that my attention is on the food rather than TV, computer etc. I have also tried many diets that are very restrictive, such as Atkins, Keto and Paleo. I did not do well on each and every one, because when I restrict things, I…

I just googled tdee and the recommended calories per day I was given was 2434. Subtract 20% and I'm at 1900 (to lose weight and fat). I have a lot of weight to lose, I'm 5'4 and currently 222lbs. Is 1900 too high right now? Should I drop it a little more? MFP has me eating 1350 calories per day and to be honest I'm worried…

I am: Height: 5'4 CW: 222lbs GW: 199lbs Goal Date: April 30 2015 I am setting my goals into chunks. Ideally, I would like to lose 1lb per week, or 5lbs per month. I eat calories set by MFP, 1300 per day. I'm not happy with how low that number is because I have come from a Paleo eating backround which discourages low…

Thanks all for the advice and support. I too have failed many times because I've gone off plan for a whole weekend. I'm going to be polite and respectful to them. Thanks again all :)

Buddy request sent, thanks!

If you are getting tired of working out, find something that you enjoy. It will keep you interested and focused towards your goal. You did answer your own question in your title, consistency is key. I used to work out for a month then get bored and quit. I then realized that I really enjoy lifting weights so my main focus…

As everyone else has said, 1.8lbs a week is fantastic. Be prepared to see that number slow down though, you might drop to 1lb a week and that's still fantastic. Be patient. Your fat loss will not happen overnight, or by summer. It might take a year but as long as you are working towards it, you have nothing to feel bad…
