Ground flax or ground chia seeds mixed with water makes a decent egg replacer. I do that for my special friends :) Though this would only replace the eggs, you would still use oil & water as per the recipe.

I really like this^^^

I prefer TDEE.

Does he like ice cream? My neighbour down the street had the same thing with her husband, he's a roofer and had trouble keeping on weight. Then he discovered ice cream in the evenings after dinner. Worked a charm on him.

I figured you weren't from your posts. I have a similar opinion to yours regarding GMO's and I'm sure there are many others that do as well. Anyhow, regarding orthorexia, I find it interesting that it is more prevalent in a certain demographic group, equally affecting both males and females over 30, with a higher social…

Excellent point! Hmmm, how would you feel about starting a GMO thread? Hehe.
-
That's a fine line I guess. One would think that GMO's would be on the hit list of foods to avoid for those with orthorexic tendencies, but I do agree that it would make a great & interesting thread of its own accord.

I suppose you don't have bigger issues to focus on then?
-
Do you see the humour in your statement?
-
Eating disorders and OCD seem similar. What you are describing is obsessive compulsive disorder.
-
Exactly.
-
I take offence to this!

Yes, there's that too! Absolutely find your own way. I guess the term baby steps can be subject to many interpretations. I meant it in the sense that if you want to run a marathon or lift heavy weights, you must work your way up to it instead of jumping right in. For me baby steps is just another way of saying don't bite…

You're here now, you're doing this so you never have to feel that way again. About the picture, it'll make a great "before" photo. You can use it in your future success story to help motivate others. Take it one day at a time, like others said, baby steps. All the little things add up.

I think that the proper term is "scarcity". That's what kept our ancestors thin without having to think about it. Why, even today we can look around the world and find perfect examples.

Anyway, SnuggleSmacks, good on you for bringing this up. Obviously full-blown orthorexia is much easier to identify & define, but I think your concern was that some people may be exhibiting the early stages of this eating disorder judging by the increase of certain forum post topics in recent times. This coupled with more…

Ummmm, apples to oranges. Orthorexia is in a different galaxy when compared to logging food & tracking macros. I mean, do I really have to explain why? Let's use your cake example, and I'll use myself as an example of a non-orthorexic. Here we go: I eat a slice of cake, I log the cake in my food diary. Done. Now someone…

My understanding of orthorexia (based on what I read - correct me if I'm off my rocker) is when a person has become terrified of eating certain foods due to the fear based propaganda they have subjected themselves to and the more research they do, the more foods they eliminate until their diet is so restricted that they…

LOL! Yes, when I got a little stuck in the rose bushes while pruning them! Have you ever had butterflies in your stomach?

I stir a spoon of jam into it, or hershey's chocolate syrup if I want chocolatey.

Ugh, do we hang out with the same people? Haha[/quote] Creepy, isn't it! It's like a hive-mind type thing going on.
-
Yes! I also noticed this amongst my IRL friends and sometimes overhear people in public chatting (or what seems like bragging) about their "awesome new way of eating that everyone should try". This is usually followed by a comment about GMO's, the evil food industry and how the unenlightened are "sheeple".
-
I usually use a knife or a blade, but even scissors would do in a pinch.
-
I had a peek at your food diary & my opinion is that you are not eating a balanced diet, and likely calories are too low as well. Edited to add: Keep in mind I had a hard time understanding a lot of the foods as they are in a different language. Also, having blood work done sounds like a good idea.

This is hard to admit, but it rings very true for me. Every little bit. I am happy to say that since I stopped my disordered thinking and obsession with eating only "optimal" foods, my weight came down and stabilized and I love food again! Best of all I feel stronger, more balanced and am enjoying life once more.

I love my home workouts! Some of the things I do: Rodney Yee yoga DVD's, burpees, jump rope, run/jog/walk, heavy bag boxing, I could go on. The home is a fitness playground!
