I lost it from my first pregnancy in six weeks. Didn't regain until three years later with my next pregnancy. Lost it again in six weeks. Didn't regain until 21 years later when I quit smoking. That's hardly yo-yoing.

HAH!!!!

Exercise when you are bored instead of eating.
-
You can always lift weights while sitting down, or do other arm exercises. Just flexing your butt muscles and sucking in your stomach are better than nothing!!!

I'm so sorry about your dog. She's lucky to have you taking care of her.

That's one meal out in over six months. I think that's probably okay. Dunno why she didn't care enough about her husband to do that. That IS sad!
-
I truly wish you the best of luck.

There will be days where you feel like eating les, just as there are days you will feel like eating more. As long as your overall calories eaten are less than your calories burned, you are good.

That's great, but how does your scale know how many calories are actually in the food? Green beans, for example, could have lots of pork fat, beef broth, and butter thrown in.

I like making an egg non-McMuffin with a whole-grain English muffin by breaking the yolk and cooking the egg in the micorwave, toasting the English muffin, adding cheese and Canadian bacon, ooooh la la! And less than 400 calories!

And if you exercise, you will burn more calories. Keep it up!

You said in your original post that you eat out several times a week. Restaurants are notorious for adding calories and sodium to the simplest of meals, even salads. I would recommend that you start cooking instead of eating out. Not only will you know a better approximation of calories, but shopping for food, cooking, and…

LIKE! That's one of my favorite books!

Who says calories have to be counted on a daily, weekly, or even monthly basis? Of course it's easier to count daily, so why not eat under your calories during the week so that you can eat more on your Saturday night date? As long as you're losing weight, all is well.

Life is but a bowl of cherries . . .

I never had a weight problem in my life except for a few weeks after having my two kids. Then I quit smoking after 35 years. I'm finally tackling the weight gain (60 pounds, yikes!) after years of thinking, oh, it will just magically fall off the way the way it magically appeared, but not happening! Best of luck to you!

After each of my two pregnancies, I was about 20 pounds overweight. I went on a VLCD of about 700-800 calories a day; no exercise. Lost it all in six weeks each time, and kept it off. UNTIL I quit smoking and gained a grand total of 60 pounds. I lost 25 of them, then gained back a couple because I got lazy, and am thinking…

Keep averaging 1200 calories a day, do some exercise, weigh yourself, and see where that goes. I doubt that you're calculating inaccurately but instead suspect a temporary water gain. And do make sure that your calorie count is accurate. You can do this!

I don't crave sweets. At all. But give me a bag of Tostido scoops and a jar of Tostio spinach dip, and I go nuts.

Yanno, things stored up high tend to get bugs or rats . . .

The food diary was confusing to me at first, as well. It goes more by brand name than by the food. Such as "Hunt's Tomato Sauce" instead of "tomato sauce", although that's there as well. I tend to eat pretty much the same foods over and over, so once I've established a food, then it's on my list and easy to click. If you…

Weight lifting doesn't help much to burn calories. Try cardio instead for quicker results.

Doesn't matter what time you eat. Calories are calories are calories. When you burn them, you burn them. Doesn't matter what time you burn them. Actually, you're burning them every minute; you just burn more when you exercise or when you're awake vs. asleep. Eat less calories than you usually eat, and move more than you…

Thanks EVERYONE for great advice! My Y just finished an adult class and don't know when the next is scheduled but you've provided a wealth of information and links. Thank you so much!

Does everyone really believe this?

Start one up, and invite me to join, and I'll do it!

I still have the Jane Fonda tape, too. The first one she ever made. I remember plugging it in the for the first time in the early 1980s. I kept up with it really good, but was about to pass out when she said, "Okay, now that we're finished with our warm-up, let's get started!" I've never watched it since. But I do still…

I tip exceptional waitresses 30%, or a dollar a person plus two dollars, whichever is more (as in the case of say Waffle House), a very good waitress 20%, or a dollar a person plus one dollar, whichever is more, a good waitress 20% or a dollar a person, whichever is more. I tip a bad waitress 10%, or $1.00 per person,…

Get the book "101 Best Gluten-Free Foods" published by Publications International in Lincolnwood, IL 60712. I don't need gluten-free recipes, but have friends and church members (duh, also friends!) who do and this has been a wonderful tool for me.

Shame on them for not giving advance notice!
