I don't know what's going on...I've gained 15 pounds just over the summer. I'm bored I guess and I'm just always hungry! I weigh about 155 now and want to get down to 135. I want to stop this before it goes to far! Please someone help with some tips.

Eat less! Sounds simple, but it's true. You said it yourself- you eat when you're bored. Start logging your food and following the calorie guideline MFP sets for you at 0.5lb a week.0

I agree....eat less but how to eat less is a different story. Try doing something active when you are bored. You've gotten into the habit of eating when your bored so now you need to find a different habit to replace that one. You can get on top of this!0

Truth! What worked for me was carrying my water bottle and taking a drink every time I felt the need to snack or the desire to reach for food. That's not say I didn't eat to my calorie limit, but it helped me cut out snacking just for the sake of something to do. I also find that when I am dehydrated, I tend to want to snack so staying hydrated helped A LOT.0 -
Wow, thanks! I honesty didn't think anyone would respond to the post. It feels so great to have some support!!! I'm going to try the water bottle idea. With beating the hunger problem, I just don't know. Everything but healthy food just seems to make it my way.0

You're in the right place. Eat at a deficit, move more and you'll lose weight. Good luck.0

I get it...I really shaped up once I realized my body didn't NEED all that and I felt better when I wasn't overeating. Good luck!0 -
Take up some hobbies that use your hands. You can't eat and knit.0

My best advice is log every single thing you eat every day. Weigh, measure, and be as accurate as possible. I found that knowing I was going to enter every single thing I ate really helped me stopped the mindless eating and has really helped me understand which foods are best left for occasional indulgences and which I can fit into my calorie goals more easily on a daily basis. If you've gained 15 lbs in just a few months, chances are you are eating and/or drinking some very high calorie foods that don't seem like that much to you.
You don't need to stop eating any foods you love to lose weight, but knowing the true caloric cost of foods may help encourage you to make some tradeoffs. Also, I found it very helpful, especially in the beginning, to read other people's food diaries, especially if they had similar goals to mine. I've gotten lots of good ideas from doing this and tried foods that were great "calorie bargains" that I eat all the time now. Good luck!0 -
I find pre-logging my day helps. I really hate having to go back in and log extra stuff I ate!
I like to sit with cucumber slices, carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes, and bell pepper slices when I watch tv or read, so I can mindlessly crunch on them without "accidentally" eating a ton of calories.
I also find decaf green tea (hot or iced) hits the spot when I just need to "taste" something but I'm not really hungry.
Don't give up, even if you have a bad day just chalk it up to being human and do better tomorrow. Good luck :drinker:0 -
Exercise when you are bored instead of eating.0
