It's part of your daily routine; not extra exercise. If you want to count it, then you'll have to count the calories chewing it as well.

Does not your college have at least workout area with treadmills, etc.? Even the local community college here has one. But if you only want classes, and can't afford them or find free classes, then I guess you're doomed to a life of inactivity.

I can't eat before workouts or I have to go flying to the bathroom.

Protein shakes usually promote flatulence. Especially the whey-based ones. Stop with the shakes and start decreasing calories and increasing activity. Works every time, but isn't a magic cure. Neither are shakes.

That's exactly what I said. Doesn't matter what her TDEE is.

A pound is an additional 3500 calories, not 5500.

I use my Fitbit Zip strictly to log steps. As in a pedometer. That alone has inspired me to move more. I don't trust that it knows how many calories I've burned, etc., but it does count steps and that's all I want.

A five-pound gain would entail eating 17,500 calories extra. Wine has a lot of calories, as does fast food and ice cream cake. And if you ate 2,500 calories more than maintenance every day for a week, for about a total of 5,000 calories a day depending on your weight and height, then you'll probably gain that five pounds…

That would be 3500 calories, not 5500.

Wow, didn't realize OP was 19! Definitely go to a doctor!

Exactly. You can eat anything you want as long as you stay at a caloric deficit. Doesn't have to be "clean" (whatever that is) and you don't have to "cheat" (whatever that is).

You'll drive yourself nuts weighing yourself on different scales. Stick to one that's accurate.

I gained 25 pounds with each of my two pregnancies, and lost it all within six weeks. I didn't worry about my weight while pregnant, as per my doctor's strict orders not to starve the baby when I freaked out over the weight I had gained. But after the babies were born, I just limited my caloric intake and exercise was…

^^This exactly.

I take glucosamine and it works like a charm.

This might be a good thing - very few people lose weight their first week, get discouraged, and quit. Think of last week as a running start to this week.

Damned if you do and damned if you don't. I have a niece who has been obese all her life (she dipped her French fries in mayonnaise among other atrocities). I smoked at the time and told her if she lost 30 pounds, which was one-half of what she needed to lose, that I would quit smoking. Of course she didn't do it, and I…

You are very special.

12 pounds in three weeks? Seriously? Tell me again what your problem is?
-
I only log steps that I purposely walk. Such as a mile in the park, or two miles on the treadmill. I do NOT add any extra steps that might equal a mile from me just walking around Costco or whatever. I would rather underestimate than overestimate my calories burned, and it works.

I only eat foods that I KNOW what the calories are, whether food I cook for myself, frozen foods, canned foods, fast foods, or whatever - If I don't know how many calories it is, I don't eat it. Period.

One of the things she said was that she was out there sweating like pigs. Pigs don't sweat. Other than that, I could hardly understand much of what she said, but the tone was clearly derogatory.

I thank YOU for being my MFP friend and inspiration!

Great analogy!

I tend to eat less during the week because I'm working and busy and it's easier to eat less. On weekends, it's a little more relaxed and easier to eat more. As long as from week to week you're consuming enough calories to fulfill your average daily recommended intake, I don't see where there is a problem.

Exercise, no matter how little, helps your metabolism - not to mention that it burns calories. You can lose weight without exercise, but you'll lose more if you do.

Drink more water to offset your hunger. It's amazing how well that works.

Same here. Most people start out great, looking for friends to motivate them, but guess what - only YOU can motivate you! So they give up and eat pizza and ice cream again.
