  • You can add me for an accountability and support exchange.
  • I treadmill on incline or elliptical 4 days a week for 30 minutes at a good clip Weight train each day for 30 minutes alternating muscle groups per day Resistance every other workout day Two days at the gym, one day off, two days at the gym, two days off This routine works well and has been totally manageable for four…
  • Wow, I'm so glad to read that I'm not the only one packing supplies wherever I go! One day my boss asked me why I carry that satchel everyday and I just had to think quickly and say oh, to take my lunch dish back home. Of course it's full of pads and plugs!!!!
  • Hello Gayle, Welcome to the group and congratulations on making the choice to join us! Let's look at this as health habits rather than health issues. We're all here to change our habits so we never have issues. Look forward to reading your input and learning more about your journey.
  • Hello yorkshiregirl67, You are right! It's a start and to me that was the hardest part. I too am finding more success in forming new habits and not concentrating on weight loss as a number. I'm going totally on how I feel after making better decisions regarding what and how much I am eating and it is slowly paying off.…
  • Welcome Jahnaca! You are among friends who understand and together we can support each other to get where we want to be. You can do this. Your family members weren't ready when you were so that is probably why that alliance fell apart. You however don't sound like you're ready to quit because you sought out this group!…
  • I've gone four and a half months without anything and feel its too soon to be so hopeful. I think my consistent exercise routine may be helping but can't believe it would impact my cycle so much that it would not occur....
  • It seems we're all in some sort of menopause phase! I think the worst thing about it is the sense of losing control over your own body and the insecurities that come with the changes and symptoms that we can't prevent. Being on a regular cycle for 38 years and then all of a sudden it is hit or miss (for months), the mood…
  • Teri, Welcome to the group! I was born in Alexandria Hospital and lived in Northern VA for almost 40 years! I miss what used to be there when I was growing up but have adjusted as a transplant in SC. I remember those beltway commutes as I did that for years. Don't miss that at all. So you think you found a home? I sure…
  • 123dola, I began menopause symptoms about three years ago with hot flashes both during the day and at night. Horrible feeling like I needed to shower all the time. Did some research on herbal alternatives and tried a few like black cohosh, selenium, etc. Black cohosh didn't seem to help so I quit that and tried selenium…
  • DaneanP, Great job going back and logging in those apps! You should be proud that you're being honest with yourself; sometimes that is the hardest thing to do. You know, if you don't acknowledge it then it must not exist! Great example for the rest of us. Bad moment of overeating, log it, and move on. Kudos for the…
  • Yes, I do use things to help me to visualize my ideal outer self. It would be how I would like to look when Hugh Jackman comes to pick me up for our first date! I have to be Hugh-fit! My husband of 26 years tells me to keep working at it and he'll get the door when the bell rings! Oh well, I'll take any support I can get!…
  • Great news! Down 4 in week one. Slow and steady wins the race. I've used a few of the recipes on MFP and they are really good and easy to prepare. Stay on your course and keep working towards that goal one day at a time. Can't wait for July and to read your post about reaching that goal! Kepp it up!
  • Keep that smile as you make progress towards your goal and you'll get there! Keep posting updates because we are expecting great things from you as a role model for the rest of us. We can all do this together. Thank you for your service!
  • That's OK. Don't keep dealing with it. You ate it, it wasn't all you wanted, so you shouldn't be eating it again anytime soon. Lesson learned. Continue with your program of eating well and let that go. Your eating habits will change for the better. Hang in there!
  • Hi Mary. I'm 51 and began my journey over three years ago when my last parent passed. Figure it was now time to be my own caregiver! I've hit the gym 3-4 times every week since then and have reshaped my body. It wasn't until this past January that I figured out I had a problem with portions and I began using MFP. I've…
  • Selena, I can't wait to read your post in October and see your next goal. You are stronger then you think and by setting a 6-month goal I believe you're setting yourself up for success! Day by day - do the best that you can. You for this!
  • Check your portions! Keep working out and cut portions and I bet you'll get where you want to be. Go by how you feel and not a number on the scale. Muscles are our friends.
  • Awesome! Be proud!
  • Hang in there and remember one day at a time. Stay on track and each day you will feel a little bit better which will get you through the next day. It is a lifestyle change not a diet. Portion control and move more!
