  • I walk 7 days a week and when I power walk i can get up to speeds of 4.5 mph. On days that I feel a little too beat up I just do a casual walk for recovery. I also run and do a lot of intervals. Just listen to your body and do recovery walks when you're feeling beat up.
  • I got the 6x Pro sapphire and it's been great so far. It has a lot of new metrics compared to my 5x, and the battery life is just plain sick. The new GPS chip has been giving me better tracks than my 5x, and even better than my Suunto A3P. The screen is much better too. Bigger and higher resolution. I also like the…
  • Here is my gym... Well, a small part of it... :)
  • Apple watch is a smart watch with some basic fitness features, and only works with the iPhone. Garmin is mainly a fitness device with some smart features, and works with android and iPhone. If you want it primarily for fitness I would recommend the Garmin. They have many models at every price point, and are much better…
  • running, trail running, walking, hiking, swimming, biking, kayaking.
  • In my opinion shoes are casts and orthotics makes it even worse. I have spent about the last year (maybe 2) or so using minimalist footwear more, and regular running shoes less. The longer I have been doing this the more I think that minimalist is the way to go, but it must be done gradually over at least a year. When your…
  • Just sent you a friend request.
  • I was in the same boat 4 years ago. I could barely walk a mile at a slow pace and then had to lay down for an hour. I felt like I was dying. I kept doing it every day. Sometimes 2 and 3 times a day and laying down in between. It started getting better with time. Then I started power walking. Then running. I can run over 13…
  • Take a look at the Merrell Trail Glove 5's. They are minimal, have a rock plate, and only weight 8 oz. https://www.merrell.com/US/en/trail-glove-5/36207M.html?dwvar_36207M_color=J50261#cgid=mens-trail-running&start=1
  • Take a look at Garmin. They are the king of the fitness devices right now.
  • Why not go for the 10k plan? C210K
  • You can train your abs, calves, and heart every day. They do not need recovery time. Probably core too (i think).
  • I'm going to wait for the fenix 6. I need sapphire glass.

  • If you think about it in terms of general physics, and why an arch is so strong structurally, it will make you realize that is why we have arches in our feet. Now think about an arch being it's strongest when the weight is distributed evenly to both sides of the arch. I think when you get to the full load bearing point of…
  • Even the FDA publicly announced that vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking. I smoked for over 40 years and was smoking 3 packs a day. Almost 5 years ago, I was diagnosed with COPD and was told I had the lung capacity of a person with one lung. It took me about 6 months to wean myself from smoking to vaping, and I have…
  • Good job 👍
  • I'll get all the rest I need after I'm dead...😂😂😂
  • I would argue that well trained distance runners today would be considered poor runners back then. Not to mention the lack of hunting and tracking skills back then as well. But yes. We developed a bigger brain, and figured out easier ways to obtain food, and this made us lazy and weak. We are now a threat to this planet…
  • Try this...
  • All of you feel free to add me to your friends. OldAssDude
  • This... I did his half marathon novice 1 plan. I went from only being able to run 5 miles, to being able to run 13.57 miles in 12 weeks, and my pace improved for shorter runs. I also agree with doing speed work 1 day a week (like intervals) on the short run day.
  • You are inspiring. I may try a little barefoot running (well walking first). Thanks for posting.
  • I own over 35 pairs of running shoes, and just about every brand. Nike Brooks New Balance Adidas Saucony Altra Hoka On Topo Merrell Xero Vivobarefoot Lem Newton Skechers You name it. Lately I've been leaning more toward the minimalist and barefoot shoes, because they kinda force me to run softer and with better form. If I…
  • i was just using an example of good and bad.
  • Eat all the food groups, but just stay within your calories (either by burning more, eating less, or a combination of both). If you are exercising regularly, you need more carbs to fuel your workouts. Good carbs (veggies), not bad carbs (pizza). But if you exercise a lot like me there is certainly nothing wrong with have…
  • I have the Merrell Trail Gove 5's, but they are more a minimalist shoe than a barefoot shoe, because they have a mid sole. I also have a pair of Vivobarefoot Stealth 2's which I use sometimes too, but I think my favorites are the Merrell Vapor Glove 4's. The sole is shaped more like a food than the Stealth 2's. I do like…

  • Been running a little over 2 years now. There was a time when I wanted to improve my pace, but now I realize that I just do this for personal fitness. I surpassed my goal of being able to run more than 10 miles, and that is really all I wanted to do when I did that program. When I do intervals, it's really for heart…
