I love this! I Gained more than 1/2 of the 98lbs I lost - slacked for about a year before pandemic +20 - then emotional eating + inactivity +35 more. Thanks for the timely words of wisdom!

I’m dealing with the same today - Orangetheory tonight at 5:15 and I’m so tired. But I’m going to give it a go.

I agree with doing more running outside. At least for me (also a slow runner), the treadmill gets a little scary as I approach 6 mph. Running outside, you can try increasing your speed in spurts and then slow right down if you need to without having to worry about changing the setting on the treadmill. Map My Run is also a…

It’s usually the overweight relatives and friends that will tell you that you look “gaunt” when you get down closer to not being overweight. But I agree, take it in phases and see what size you drop down to. And strength training will help keep you looking fit.

[/quote] Cutting down on calories isn't just about getting thinner, it's about getting healthier too. The wine is problematic because of the calories, but it's also problematic for many other reasons. I really hope you listen to one of the people on this thread urging you to see a doctor, but I'm not sure you're ready…

Your liver still has to process the bottle of wine every day whether you are addicted or not. Not to mention the effect of your sleep and diet. Believe me, I’ve been through the bottle a day route myself. Coming to terms with the ultimate physical effects whether or not I’m experiencing any yet is what has helped me cut…

I decided to return the Apple Watch - I actually didn’t love how complicated it is. I spent $6 on an app that sends the Apple Watch data to the Fitbit app but it would override data if I wore my Inspire clip part of the day. I guess I’m still a Fitbit gal!

You didn’t get any useful advice from all the thoughtful replies and strategies that people took the time to offer to you?

He posted it on the Why Eating Too Little is a Bad Idea thread 🤷♀️

Or...people who have had success are speaking from experience and helping to set her up for success as well. Your bro advice is also not helpful for a 200+ lb women trying to figure out weight management for a lifetime.

As someone who is “well over” 200 lbs, you’ve been eating 3,000+ calories a day. As danp said, trying to eat 1000-1200 a day will surely cause binge and restrict cycles which will get you nowhere. That no doubt will lead to the “it’s no use” refrain. I started at 267 and 1760 cals which was 1 lb a week and sure enough, I…

[Facing a lifetime of limiting my caloric intake is a hard pill to swallow, especially after seeing such results and improved health overall. Try reframing this - once you’re at maintenance, you’ll be eating the proper calories for your size and activity level like “normal” weight people do every day. Try seeing your…

Are you going to post this link on every thread?

You don’t say whether you are eating at a calorie deficit.
-
I would suggest setting your activity to “not very active” and then add in purposeful excercise as you do it (unless you have an active job).

Same situation for me - although gaining was caused by vacation, holidays and a less traumatic break-up. Started at 267 - got down to 169 in about 1 1/2 years - still 20 lbs from goal. I kept within 10 lbs for 2 years and then shot up to 205 by the end of 2019. Still having less to lose than when I started does mean it…

Have your treat at home ready for you. You can also change into your pajamas or nightgown after dinner to signal you aren’t going back out.

You might be pleasantly surprised to find out you enjoy planning, weighing and logging your food to ensure a calorie deficit when you start to see the scale go down. As they say, you have to chose your hard.

But it’s magic!

Lost 98 lbs counting calories - gained 35 back not counting calories...

So scary!

I knew a woman who ate popcorn with a stick of melted butter every day after her surgery. My cousin had it - never reached her goal and gained it all back plus more. Now at age 65, she’s given up - and she also turned to alcohol which is a common side effect too. Her hair is so thin and she so much less energy than she…

It should be!

Re: “normal” I think there are people for whom the connection between comfort and food luckily never kicked in or at least not as severely. I was thin thru high school and into college but after my first romantic catastrophe, I turned to food. Then once I began to gain weight, I started “dieting” but always going back to…

I was wondering why the # of servings in my pint of sorbet went from 4 to 3. Either way, I just log it by grams depending on how much I dish out.

There’s no need to regroup and start over - you just continue on. The “Starting over” mindset will get you every time. The best advice I received early on was this - if you were driving from NY to LA and you took a wrong turn and ended up in Texas, you wouldn’t go back to NY and start driving again, you would just get back…

Thanks - that’s what I meant and I’m old too!

Isn’t “starch” the old way of referring to carbs?

I think this post is more of a humblebrag to show off how much exercise the OP is doing...

Depending on how you got 400 calories, it may include calories from just being alive too.
