Are they drinking it? If they stay in a deficit, shouldn’t be a problem 😂

Yeah, luckily I didn’t take much of the Fen because it was expensive. I think I only did it for about 2 months - it was because my younger sister was getting married that I went to such an extreme. Of course, after I hit my low weight (which is my current goal weight), I weighed that for exactly 1 day before starting to…

Hey now - I’ll be 60 in 2 weeks! I started this last weight loss effort Jan 2015 at 56 and 267 lbs. With only a 1 lb a week deficit, I lost about 60 lbs the first year, then 30 lbs the second year, and have been going back & forth on the last 8 for 1 1/2 years. As you noted, the time is going to pass anyway but I do think…

I’d also make sure it isn’t designed to sell you on WLS - cynical, I know but hospitals make a lot of $ with bariatric surgery these days.

My first (and last) Keto diet was in 1995. Of course, it also involved phen-Fen, 500 cals a day and $50 a week to the diet doctor. Those were the days!

Repeat after me ... there is no wagon. There are days that you log and stay at your calorie goal. There are days you log and maybe go over your goal. There are days you don’t log and have no idea how much you went over. Every day is a new opportunity and decision for you to make. You don’t have to “eat healthy” - whatever…

...while smoking

I like to do a York Peppermint Patty with my afternoon coffee - around 100 cals I think.

Why would Pepsi or Coke (big food companies) care if we buy regular or diet versions? Same $ for them. Your last points, I won’t even bother. Others with more scientific knowledge I’m sure will weigh in.

Same here - thanks! Hope you’re “recovery” from the weekend is fast!

Maybe you need to spend less on your hobby instead of sacrificing nutrition?

I did enjoy partner night but I did slack on the squats. The rowing was great though. I’m just getting up and it’s my first day feeling sore either from back to back days or working harder since I’m getting more into it.

Is it one of the “alternative” metal styles line Titanium or Serinium? Double check with your jeweler. Many companies that make those type of rings offer a exchange program - for a fee of around $100, you can exchange for a new size if needed.

How did it go?
-
It’s not my body - it’s my head. I’ve been at my OK weight for over a year with the last 20 to go. Once I can wear M/size 10, the last 20 aren’t as critical somewhere in the back of my subconscious mind I guess. It is a victory that I’ve been able to maintain my 98 lb loss that long (never really done that before) but I…

Obviously, we’ve all been capable of eating that much over daily maintenance or we wouldn’t have become overweight. That’s why it’s important to look at the big picture. Without that perspective (which MFP has given me), I wouldn’t be in my 3rd year of losing (with plenty of maintenance months in there) with less than 20…

I think that’s the greatest victory - also that you saw the big picture and are just carrying on - no “starting over” or “back on my diet”. This is how people who aren’t overweight manage their diet (noun) day in and day out. Great job!

Rule #1 - don’t discuss your weight loss process with others. It’s your personal (for want of a better word) journey. Rule #2 - don’t just eat salads then. Eat what you normally would (within the constraints you may have due to your surgery) just less of it. This should give you a much more positive outlook and hopefully…

How are the various components of a sundae not food?

As a jeweler, I’d advise not wearing rings when working out. Besides the risk of loss, you can damage them lifting weights, grabbing bars, banging on equipment. Interestingly, even 100 lbs heavier, I could still wear almost all of my rings except the really wide ones. However, I have had 4 links taken out of all of my…

If you have a lot to lose, that’s when you should be eating them. You need to fuel your workouts and maintain a sustainable deficit to prevent binging. Also, you won’t have any room to go lower as you lose.

As they say - if you say you can’t - you’re right!

This is what confuses some people and makes them doubt their Fitbit. It included your baseline NEAT calories along with the “extra” calories from the walking.
-
Think about it - do you seriously think you could go an entire week without food?
-
Thinking back - this could be #1!

You’ve gotten some great advice so I hope you can see the benefit in stopping smoking #1. Even if you start by setting your calories to maintenance while you are quitting, you’ll start getting in the habit of weighing and logging your food. At least you won’t gain while you are quitting. (Smoking around a young child isn’t…

And Silver Sneakers at LA Fitness or 24 Hour (and other gyms) is free! I think you get it through your Medicare.

It’s about 40 minutes split between the treadmill and rower. It goes by so fast with the different intervals too!

Wow!

Whatever... OP you got great advice for starting out. At your starting weight, all you have to do is set your 2lbs a week goal, get a food scale and log everything. You can totally eat the same things you like now, just less. You will have a lot of calories to work with so don’t try to go crazy with “healthier” food or…
