I like to throw it in soup- otherwise it can be a tad blah. Excellent source of protein though! - I haven't tried this recipe yet, but anything with avocado and cilantro looks pretty yummy. http://www.thegraciouspantry.com/clean-eating-vegetarian-quinoa-and-avocado-salad-with-carnivorous-possibilities/

We drink a lot of smoothies in this house! We also have oatmeal for breakfast quite often. I make some mean soup & chili.

I prefer almond milk too, although I only use it in coffee. My husband doesn't like the taste of soy or coconut. Almond definitely has more calcium and vit D and less chance of accidental weight gain

Or going by percentage. Or the recommendations from the American Heart Association.

A friend recommended I buy organic canned (in glass, I believe) tomatoes at Costco. I love me some tomatoes - amish and heirloom are my favorite, the more weird & lumpy, the better. Bring on the lycopene!

No, I actually consume more than that myself, but that number could be perfectly fine for some women.

It would depend on calorie intake needed, and if the intake is less than 2,000 then what I said might be fine some days. It doesn't have to be exact every day as long as it falls within a healthy range. I did not suggest the "obvious" suggestions because they are, as you illustrated, obvious. When most people think of…

I could try it and see! I'll still be eating my fruit, though! (And that last blueberry muffin) Who is more powerful, US or refined sugar?!
-
Yes, I was just going to come back and suggest organic eggs. Also, sorry about your GI issues. I hope your recovery goes well.

I will be corrected? The OP was asking for suggestions to meet protein goals on MFP. I am not passing off any false information. I'm sorry you have chosen to make dietary decisions based solely on your need for muscle mass and resistance training. Many others are more concerned with their heart, and long term health. If…

There is not a cardiologist or nutritionist or the planet who would recommend a high protein diet.
-
Oh my gosh, why are you so concerned about what I think constitutes a regular workout? Who would care what I think it is? Each person's exercise goals are different. Wow. Even if I or anyone was completely wrong, what is the point in arguing some thread on the internet? I've noticed this a lot lately on mfp, but mostly…

Hahaha. Oh man.

I meant if you weren't aiming to be a world class body builder.

I'm not Vegan but I love Vegans & my husband is vegetarian. Can I still join the party? I try to get most of my protein needs met through heAlthy plant based proteins, so I'm always looking for more suggestions there.

Energy for protein???? What? Have you had a bad day? You're a really argumentative person.
-
That's what I said. Energy comes from carbohydrates, not protein.
-
Veins gross me out too, and my husband would never eat chicken off the bone. Have you thought about just trying different kinds of low level mercury fish for now?
-
If your goal is to really build body muscle, sure, but that's not needed for regular workouts. Sedentary doesn't come into play, as carbohydrates give energy. I danced professionally for years - nine hours of performing a week. That doesn't require anyone to up protein goals.

If you do better not using a scale, then go for it! I have friends who don't own one because of the negative connotation. We all know if our clothes fit or not. Me though, I do like my scale. I constant to be caught off guard at the doctor's office!

I love Indian Food. Avoid the samosas (unfortunately) and anything fried. Go light on the naan. Indian Food is mostly made without meat so there are a ton of delicious veggie options usually- I would just try to get one without cheese. I promise, there are so many yummy spices you won't think about eating a vegetable dish!…

So apparently the Cabbage Soup Diet is an actual thing? I'll be damned
-
My aunt asked if I wanted to try the cabbage soup diet- where you just eat cabbage soup! Um, no thank you. - Oh and Adkins comes to mind. My boss used to order big boy hamburgers every day, smother them in tartar sauce and eat them sans bun- super gross. Oh, then I had to call 911 and help him take off his tie when he had…

I only found protein goals challenging when pregnant, since the recommendation there is higher- about 70(although some recommend 100 when pregnant) Protein/amino acids are in practically everything these days. You only need about 45 or 46 grams if you aren't pregnant or nursing. That should be pretty simple. - quinoa,…

Would you be willing to throw it all away, not buy it, and not keep it in the house? The best advice I was given was distraction and change your habits. If you snack in front of the tv at night, brush your teeth, get into bed for the night, and watch a show from there. If you're tempted to snack, go take a shower, or do…

Well, if it doesn't stop at one glass what about only buying one of those teeny bottle at a time? Forced portion control!

It has been seven months and it is taking a looooong time! I ended up over 209lbs when I gave birth and I'm down to 169. I'd love to go back to my original weight of 140, but I might settle for 150 at this point! I'm committed to losing weight in a very healthy way since I am breastfeeding. My nutrition counts for two, and…

It is funny how when you go back and try something ages later, it just doesn't taste good anymore or like you remember it. I bet if you tried something from there now, it wouldn't live up to the memory.
-
Why don't you try cutting down on refined sugars and see? Refined, added, corn syrup, etc aren't necessary nutrients! Read labels and cut down on the sugar grams if you want or are curious. Are you motivated to try?

I used to think the burgers were good, but I they taste super greasy and gross to me now. We picked some up last July and I thought I was going to be ill after eating it-disgusting. Plus, after the whole "pink slime" story broke, they lost the appeal. My husband lost 20 pounds and got back to a Healthy weight by giving up…
