So sorry to hear you won't be eating any more fruits, vegetables, breads, etc. My condolences.0

I can't live without chocolate... I've given up a LOT of stuff, but I keep my weight watchers chocolate and I usually have one a little while before bed and it tides me over, lol.0

Don't be pedantic. You know she means added sugars.

I switched to raw (less processed) sugar. That's as close as you're getting me to quitting.0

Already gave it up. It's easier on me than trying to moderate. I already have very low calorie requirements because I'm older, female, short, relatively small, and have already lost half my body weight. There just isn't room for portion sizes of low nutrient foods that don't look like crumbs to me, so why bother?

I know no such thing.
Many a MFP user has professed to "give up" sugar, and then can't understand why their MFP daily nutrition breakdown still shows they're going over on sugar each day.

OP, why?0

I would like to join in. I have already restricted consuming "added" sugars since Sept '14. I still eat fruit in moderation, but have given up all but occasional deserts. I was one of those people that craved sugar and ate it mindlessly. When I do eat a desert now I make sure to only have half and place the remaining portion out of my reach. My boy friend, who has also given up sugar, doesn't seem to have the same pull towards sugar as I do.0

Yes I need to give sugar up!!!0

Don't give up cold turkey...start your day with less sugar each day it is much easier. I am trying it and finding it easier and I am not thinking about it so much. Good luck though whatever you decide!0

Definitely not giving up sugar...seriously that just seems like a sad way to live your life tbh.
But I need to cut back on my sugar after going on a huge and shameful binge this week...frappucinos two days in a row and everything (and a giant hot chocolate the day after that). Even today I am over by 24 grams so far.0 -

I can't do that, I would starve on Saturday's (my cheat day) because I only eat 1700 calories of sugary treats all day on Saturday0

Why?
I removed white sugar from my diet completely when my blood sugar started to get out of control and I was getting dizzy after an ice cream. I was worried I was headed for diabetes. I still had a bit of raw sugar in my coffee, but other than that the only sugars I had were the ones naturally occurring in foods. It seemed to help. I didn't get dizzy anymore. After a couple of years I reintroduced foods with white sugar added, but I still keep them to a minimum - essentially I only eat them if there's no alternative around and it's a food I really want.0 -
I'm low carb - feel free to add me. Also come check out the low carbers group for tons of ideas. I've cut out a whole lot of sugar and I don't feel at all deprived or sad.0

I try to cut sugar as it is a relatively easy way to reduce calories - not having sugar in coffee, switching to diet sodas, cutting down on sweets.
- I can do that without drastically changing my lifestyle.
However I make no silly claims about removing sugar altogether, and I certainly do have chocolates, desserts etc on moderation.

I stay away from refined sugar products, one day at a time, as I am certainly a 'sugar-addict', and have been since I was a young child.
I have never know the concept of 'having enough', and when I eat a bar of chocolate, piece of cake, etc., it simply causes a demand inside me for more, more, more. One piece of chocolate is too much, as then a hundred pieces are not enough. I just don't have a 'stop' switch once I start. Apart from the obvious weight gain, and diabetes risk, which results from this over indulgence, I find that I end up having a 'sugar-crash' - no energy, low mood, unproductive etc. as they say "what goes UP, must come DOWN!"
So, for me, if I don't take the first bit of chocolate, then I won't fall into a binge!0 -

Why reduce sugar???
Easy - quick and simple route to a calorie deficit!!
Question to you!!
OP has made (as an adult) a decisions (although poorly worded, in the original post, i would suggest) to reduce her sugar intake - what does it matter.
I'm sure most people aren't ignorant enough to believe the OP means to cut sugar to zero and have the ability to not read things so literally.

Me too. And SAD makes me sad. I get really depressed after a day or two of eating junk.0
