500 is VERY difficult to do. Keep in mind that a Dunkin Donuts cream donut is about 400 calories. It is feasible to eat low calorie and be healthy, but you need to make slow changes. You can get full on a 200 calorie meal, if you have the right balance of nutrients and are eating low calorie foods.

I've had mixed results eating before bed. If its fast food or something "bad" I don't usually feel good. Trail mix seems like it would be a little more balanced.

I tried to find good alternatives to those things. I picked up 100-cal ish pre-bagged organic cookies, Z-Bars/Odwalla/Kashi bars, and am going to be buying a food dehydrator so I can make my own chips soon (which is more economical than buying them in the store). I try to find grains with flax seed and foods in general…

I am trying to drink more green tea. Speeds up the metabolism!

Most people I know that tried low carb failed because they did things like completely eliminate bread for months without finding any substitutes or lower carb options. If you substitute your grains and high carb foods for healthier options, you may be able to see success in the long run. Personally I am loving flax seed…

Oats can surpress appetites. Apple cider vineger and green tea too.

Labels are often misleading too. http://www.alternet.org/warning-american-snack-food-looks-healthier-all-time-it-really-isnt

That's really well-said. I remember once picking up a diet book that said to put a bunch of grapefruits in your fridge and have grapefruit whenever your hungry, and encouraged you to eat the whole grapefruit. I don't remember the name of the book, I just remember saying to myself that I hate grapefruit, and I would hate to…

If I ate the 2000+ calories recommended to me I would gain, and I'm over 300. And I exercise, a lot. I agree with talking to a professional and having them help you design a plan that works with your chromosome disorder.

Check stores like big lots for discount nutrition bars. Frozen veggies are usually pretty good and a fraction of the cost. Bananas are also usually pretty cheap and full of potassium.

While you seem to have a good grasp on what it takes to maintain weight, you should still seek professional advice. If you have a different idea of fun, that's fine, but it seems like your avoiding going out because you are obsessing over calories. This doesn't necessarily mean you have a disorder, either. Sometimes a…

Why not learn to prepare the meals they offer yourself? That way you can switch what you like, don't like, ect.

Talk to your doctor before making any changes to your diet. If you feel it is too little calories, talk to them. They may have some suggestions for you.
-
Don't discontinue your medication without talking to a doctor.

Follow your doctor's plan, not the one you found on the Internet. As someone who is active, big and eats little, I will stress that it is important to eat healthy (or try to make healthier choices) and make sure that you eat if you feel hungry. If you experience headaches, stomachaches, nausea, ect. eat a light snack and…

That doesn't sound very appetising.

Beans have a lot of protein and they are one of the cheapest foods you can buy. Last week I made a cold bean salad and added a little bit of corn to it for flavor. Soooo good.

Error.

Take a supplement or include more leafy greens in your diet. Spinach, for example, is rich in calcium, iron and potassium. You could also try looking for a nutrition bar or drink.

Again, I have a scale. Here is a pretty easy conversion chart for lettuce, if you REALLY want to nit pick my diary. http://www.cookitsimply.com/measurements/cups/lettuce-shredded-chopped-0070-0g142.html I have a timer for my workouts. I'm going by what MFP says for the calories. I don't input my own. It uses a formula. I…

I have those things :) The only reason I pointed it out was because someone else said that I was inaccurate.
-
Ok. Let me rephrase the question. Whats an alternative activity that i could do that would equate to about an hour and a half on a bike? Id like to change up my routine a bit.
-
How do you measure a cup of lettuce then? Without a scale or measuring cups?
-
If its inaccurate, the system is in accurate. Are you saying they are? I have measuring cups and scales that i use. I walk ALOT and ride my bike ALOT. The times are accurate, i dont accomodate for walking or paddling at work. If i go to one of the theme parks, the most i put it as is 90 min of walking.
-
At least. I think thats the day i went to Disney AND rode my bike afterwards. I may be big but i move around ALOT. I dont put more than 90 min of walking on my estimates. Ive been on here nearly two weeks and my diary is public. Thanks for the discouragement.

Also, negative calorie foods like spinach are great for that.

Add me :)
