Just read one of the weirdest recipes on a drink, that helps you lose weight, it was on the doctors (arabic version). Anyway if you're interested here it is:

Ingredients:
1/2 bunch of parsley
10 garlic cloves
1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice.

Prep:
pour 3 cups of water and all the ingredients in a pan, and put on a low heat.

Once the the water is boiled turn the heat off and leave to cool. Pour the entire content in a bottle/jug and leave over night.
Sieve the ingredients apart from the water. And that's the drink done.
Drink one cup in the morning, and drink what's left 30 minutes before you're meal.

I'm going to give it a go, and will let you know how it goes

P.S. exercise and controlled diet is also required

apparently so, from what i hear
  • That's just ridiculous and who in their right mind would want to drink garlic, think it would be better on a salad or chicken!

hence the 'exercise and controlled diet'. It detoxes and is good for your kidneys

Please give specifics on toxins...the body doesn't need a detox.

you filter it out, you dont blend it or anything, you leave it over night, the water is then infused.

Amazing how all these shakes, drinks, supplements ALL work when combined with diet and exercise.

Ugh. Just skip the drink and do the above. Works wonders.

Garlic and parsley both have health benefits. The reason for infusing the water is that you can't really eat that much parsley and garlic in a day. Well, possible but not easy. Can't hurt you.

OP, you'll notice quickly on this site that NO ONE likes to see any suggestions such as this one. I agree with everyone that it sounds gross & it's all about just your calories in & calories out. Simple as that. If you're interested in it though, absolutely go for it. & if it helps you.. That's awesome! I'd just refrain from putting things like this on here because you won't get much positive feed back. Good luck to you! :-)

This is why I can't stand those "doctor" shows. No real responsible and credible doctor in his/her right mind would tell a client to drink some crap drink because it "detoxes" them. That's outright BS. As long as you have a functioning liver and at least one healthy kidney you don't need to "detox" from anything. Just drink water and you'll be fine and don't listen to those snakeoil salesmen who call themselves "doctors." Ugh.

"Hot water, says Dr. Susan Brown, of BetterBones.com, builds digestive strength. Simmering water with lemon will help stimulate the digestive process. Moreover, drinking warm water will slightly raise your body heat, allowing for a slight increase in thermogenesis, the process your body uses to burn calories from foods you eat. It will also help with the pain, discomfort and bloating associated with constipation. Practice safety when using hot water to be sure you don’t scald yourself."

"Part of the reason for the powerful effects of this combination is lemon’s high vitamin C content. According to an article published in the “Journal of the American College of Nutrition” in 2005, vitamin C is inversely related to your body mass. Researcher reported that having enough vitamin C intake, as opposed to being vitamin C-deficient, helps your body set off a series of chemical reactions that break down your body fat for use as energy. Those who have a “depleted vitamin C” status are more resistant to this reaction."

    Direct quotes from article above.

Well, yeah, but that article says:

"One of the reasons this drink works well is because lemons are diuretic, meaning you’ll make a few extra trips to the bathroom and rid yourself of water weight. In addition, hot lemon water has been widely advocated as a laxative, reports Purdue University’s Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture. It helps relieve constipation by helping you pass softer stools."

So yes, it will make you lose water weight which I don't think anyone would deny. But that doesn't mean it helps you lose actual weight.

    From your article:
the home remedy doesn’t take the place of eating well and exercising nor does it replace the advice of your health care provider.

    Mmmm.....broscience.

Water itself is a diuretic - not news. It also has "laxative" properties in that if you're dehydrated, you can get constipated. If your body is properly hydrated, it can allocate some water to your stool to help it pass through your body more easily. Also not news.

    The article also says this:
Part of the reason for the powerful effects of this combination is lemon’s high vitamin C content. Those who have a “depleted vitamin C” status are more resistant to this reaction.

Okay - most people are not deficient in Vitamin C, considering that scurvy is pretty rare these days. Also, I'd love to see what "research" they used to come to the conclusion that Vitamin C is some kind of fat burner.

This article is a whole bunch of no. If you like lemon water because of the taste, great. It's not going to magically make you lose weight, though. And it can erode the enamel off of your teeth, so...
