I went shopping with my friend who had lost 50 pounds, to help her pick out a few things for a special event. I watched as she picked up the same size she'd always worn, and I told her, "those are going to be too big for you." Of course, I was right because I can see her as she actually looks, not as she has seen herself…

That's pretty funny!

Yes! When I lost 40 pounds a couple of years ago, people asked how I did it, and I could tell by their expressions they were hoping to hear me say, "ABC Diet", or "XYZ pill" or surgery. When you say, "I stopped eating crap and got off my couch and onto a bicycle", you get the stink-eye. :)

A little over a year ago, I had lost about 40 pounds (halfway through my journey) and at our office Christmas party, a male co-worker made a comment about my improved physique. It wasn't inappropriate or lewd, and I know it was meant as encouragement, but it completely derailed me - to the the tune of gaining back about 15…

Measuring tape says you are smaller ... that you occupy less space. They both are probably accurate, but they won't necessarily always match up. If you feel better, healthier, stronger, then you're doing something right.

Amazing job! And what a great support team you have there. Congratulations and thanks for sharing - very inspiring.

Reminds me of the saying, "'No one can go back and make a brand new start, my friend, but anyone can start from here and make a brand new ending.' Cheesy but true.

In my experience with prior weight losses (I've been a bit of a yoyo-er), mine has gotten MUCH less noticeable, but has never gone completely away. :( I have a small face and I just don't have enough jawline, I guess. Part of it must be genetic, thought, because my youngest daughter does not have any weight issues (5'7"…

Confession: Today our schedule was so crazy and my daughters wanted Panda Express, so I relented; I had the Sweetfire chicken with white rice. I skipped Starbucks, though, so there's a little bit of an upside, right?
-
Amazing! Your patience with the process is an admirable virtue. I'll be reminding myself of this along my journey - thank you for sharing!

Very inspiring! My daughters and I are involved in Steampunk events, and my goal is to have a corset size in the 20s instead of the 30s! (And be more confident about showing a little Sky Pirate leg now and then!)

You're right. I retract my snarky statement, since I had a vocabulary cramp. Not mass. Think volume, or area, or density. Or carat size. That's how I look at it. If you lay out "one carat" weights of different precious stones, they will be different sizes. If you lay out "one pound" of muscle, fat, cartilage, etc, those…

I completely missed that, but I could definitely lose weight on a marshmallow Peeps diet. Because I simply would not be able to eat them. Those things ... ugh.

You need to learn the difference between weight and mass. Desperately. And for the love of all that is holy, do it before you EVER speak or post in a public forum again.

I don't know how your mother can be on WW and exist in this "anti-portion-control" mindset. Maybe she has a sub-par meeting leader, but the first thing we talked about in orientation when I joined is portion control (you're probably eating more than you think you are) and getting a good quality food scale.

Thank you for speaking my mind. This gluten-free craze is driving me bonkers.

My goal when I started recently was 85 pounds. I've lost 4 so far (mostly water weight, I'm sure) so 81 to go. My daughter is competing at Fringe in Scotland in August 2016 and I want to be at my absolute strongest and fittest for that!

I started back to my Weight Watchers meetings yesterday. My weight is up and I knew it would be, but that's the reality of my behavior over the last month. So, last night, when I was up late and that snacking urge hit me, I just went to bed instead of eating. Probably better for me all the way around.

And Pauline in the new season. She's a whiny, difficult person - she's age 51 but she was just such a baby about everything. She would argue with Dr. Now and always had some kind of excuse. And she would say things to him like, "you can't expect so much from me so fast" (this was on day 5 post-op when she hadn't even…

I'm just starting my journey, and the armpit thing is, weirdly, something I think about EVERY time I shave. I have for years. I don't know why I have this weird obsession with having "thin girl" armpits, but I can't wait for that to happen to me!

Just because something has less calories doesn't mean it is better for you. The calories have to count for something. Nuts and berries have way more calories than diet soda, but they also have nutrients.
