Samsung Gear Fit 2 is great. I went through like 5-6 fitbits, then I switched to the Samsung.

That is correct. It's only specific to chf if we're talking about heart problems. I have a leaky mitral valve w/murmur, AVNRT [so, SVT] and POTS/dysautomia. I drink 4-5 liters of water a day. I find that I need it, I dehydrate very easily. i did used to have really bad swelling in my feet and ankles upon standing but I…

if you mean heart failure, sure. it has to do with edema and swelling. but that doesnt mean you have chf, you need to see a cardiologist if you really think that's the case. chf has other symptoms like shortness of breath, utter fatigue, swelling etc etc. don't diagnose yourself, honestly. i do have heart problems, though…

Oh man, that looks gnarly. How'd you get it to begin with? MRSA can be a real beyotch.
-
they dont keep your hr low all the time. i can get mine up during exercise, it just helps me not go over 200. but thanks for the possible explanation
-
Yes but I'd rather have a controlled hr than arrythmias. no one should be taking them if they don't have tachycardia
-
how do beta blockers cause weight gain? I take 1200 mg sectral [acebutolol], i have no issues losing weight
-
Yeah, it's a real pain to get rid of. I had it and didn't feel right for a month. My son keeps getting it and for him, it's being caused by strep pyogenes which is group A strep. And he goes on abx but he keeps giving it to me because his never fully goes away. So it's a really vicious cycle.

You can do this! I have fibro too. the trick is to find something that's not going to leave you sore. for me, it's recumbent biking. if I walk on a treadmill, I'll be sore for a week but if I use the recumbent bike, I'll have no pain whatsoever either during or afterward.

I was gifted one and I made potatoes in it. Tbh, I'd rather just use the oven and I gave it back to my parents because I hardly used it.

Hyper POTS is POTS. I failed the tilt test like everyone else. The difference is that hyper POTS is caused by too much adrenaline which squeezes the blood vessels causing hypertension. it is true that salt is good for low blood pressure but not everyone with POTS has low bp, I just wanted to point that out.
-
Hi! I have Hyperadrenergic POTS. Recumbent bike is the best form of exercise for it that's what I do. I disgree about the salt. I have high blood pressure, I am on high blood pressure meds and have to eat a low salt diet. Only take the advise about salt if you know your bp is pretty low. if it is normal or high, salt will…

I've found that my fitbit overestimates. it would tell me a tdee of 2000 something but my gear fit pro gives me a tdee of 1800ish for the same amount of effort. and 1000 steps on my gear fit pro burns 40 calories while fitbit says 60 calories. I trust the gear fit more, tbh.
-
exactly. my cardiologist told me when it comes to beta blockers and bp meds, always taper off or else you get a rebound effect and that can cause major problems
-
No. Beta blockers have withdrawal effects, please dont stop them cold turkey. I take mine for heart problems.
-
I'm an f cup, so I know how it is. my fitbit scale says i have 40 percent body fat but I have a feeling that is very wrong. I'm 5'7", female and 160 lbs. While I know I have some fat to lose, I think 40 is way too high considering my bmi is 25. Maybe 30-35 percent is more right.
-
Yeah, see a doctor.I have heart problems and arrythmias from a medical condition. without meds, my hr while exercising is 200+.
-
Yeah, I thought he was doing well and was shocked to found out he died.

http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/chicagotribune/obituary.aspx?pid=155646085 Not really. His death had nothing to do with the documentary and happened years later.
-
I've seen it. Frank passed away.

You just nailed it....you're used to eating lower carb right? well when you're used to a lower carb diet and then you eat starchy foods, you gain water weight because carbs bind to water. mystery solved :P
-
I'm 5'7" and have gone from 166 lbs to 162, I do not see a difference but that's because I haven't lost much. Progress comes with time :)

That's so awesome, SAB! I've been vegetarian since I was 10, so 22 years, but I feel like veganism is the next step for me. I love animals and grew up with the idea that animals are friends, not food. But I also have health issues, none of which are reversible but I find it easier to stay in my recommended sodium range…
-
Berries, non starchy veggies like cucumber, spinach, lettuce, etc. oh, and daiya's greek style yogurts. they are soooo good.
-
I know you said you're weighing everything on a food scale but what about liquids? do you drink only water during the day or are you getting in liquid calories? When we talk about water retention, barring medical conditions, it's something like 5-6 lbs. Not 14 lbs in a month. What's your sodium intake like? How are you…

I eat before I go to the gym, and then I'm good for a while. So I'll wake up at 8:30 am and eat. Head to the gym at 11 am, get out around noon, eat about an hour or two after that and then eat dinner. Works for me. I also make sure to hydrate [3-5 liters of water a day due to health issues], some of your hunger might…

Nope, not at all. But I don't think starvation mode is a good name for it at all because it's being equated, and wrongly so, with people not being able to lose weight. Which we know is not what happens.
-
This is why I think it shouldn't be called starvation mode. It's very confusing. It should be called cannabilization, because that's what it is. As a last ditch effort to keep the body running in extreme starvation, the body will start eating itself using the energy from muscles and organs.

walking is exercise. so no.
