If it hurts at the very bottom like you say, there's nothing wrong with raising that squat up an inch (maybe more). You're dropping extremely low and there is not much added benefit to squatting that low. This probably won't be a popular opinion, but I'd be interested in seeing form with MORE weight. I only say so because…

My bench press is very tricep-centric, which is why it's so beneficial to me. I get it though, and I don't think you'd be alone at all.

Some bench press from this morning. Stoked is an understatement really. I'm super happy with my bench progression over the past 8 weeks. https://www.instagram.com/p/BMy48UZA3gG/?taken-by=tribalperformance

I've seen great carryover from pin press and floor press. I only do one or the other once every two to three weeks. It definitely helps with those sticking points, though. Especially pin press.

I leg press like 600lbs so I really don't see a need for squats and deadlifts are bad for your back. No thank you!

I'm going to disagree with a lot of this. Home is WHERE you lose weight. HOME is where you'll have to keep your eating habits in check to ensure you remain in a deficit. You WILL NOT lose weight without being in a caloric deficit, no matter how hard you work out at home or in a gym. A lot of people find motivation in…

It was a good day yesterday. I feel like I can finally say that my deadlift is moving in a posistive direction. I've made a few tweaks to my setup that allows me to stay engaged pre, intra, and post lift and it's paying off! 515lbs for three singles. https://www.instagram.com/p/BMm3corAM4y/?taken-by=tribalperformance

hey dude, i like your lifters!

Well crap! I'm going to try and message you then.

Don't you mean somebody else to fill HER slot? HEY-OH!!!

Squat workout from Saturday night. Started the workout worn out, and it never really got better. https://www.instagram.com/p/BMc-R7yA4k3/?taken-by=tribalperformance

I just took that middle sentence out. It was out of place.

I don't know the point, but it appears you're going to try and get to the bottom of it (even if it's been over 96 hours since this thread last had any activity).
-
Sounds like a pretty hardcore fed! :sunglasses:

I read the most insightful post on another thread regarding this the other day. That is this: You're not that special. People really don't care about you that much. Majority of the time, this fear is irrational because nobody is there to pay attention to you. Everybody started as a beginner, so don't let that be what stops…

OP - I just went back and read some of your initial posts and I would just like to re-stress the point of really familiarizing yourself with the three lifts that make up a powerlifting meet. It looks like you're doing a 5x5 program which is more than acceptable, but leads me to believe you may be fairly new to lifting.…

I actually squat high bar, but all that means is that I'm doing it wrong. :expressionless:
-
Because the answer is always low bar

Please don't buy a squat suit, bench shirt, or knee wraps, OP. That stuff is way too expensive for a sport you may not even stick with, not to mention, you can lift in raw divisions. A quality belt, wrist wraps, and some knee sleeves are a good recommendation, but not necessary.
-
Your initial vague post would lead MANY to believe that you were in fact saying: 1.) There is an age limit on powerlifting 2.) One would have to gain weight to be a powerlifter 3.) One would get hurt trying to lift "too much" 4.) One has to have a certain genetic makeup to be a successful powerlifter You're far too…

Well on your way to a 600+ pull IMHO. That's amazing, man!
-
Again, this will be dependent upon your goals and how long you've been lifting. If you're new to lifting, you'll likely still see strength gains while cutting. I'd recommend eating at maintenance and focus on the lifts revolving around powerlifting initially. Then you can compete, see what you think and reassess goals from…
-
I'd say for your first meet, don't even focus on your body weight. If you're 270lbs, you'll most likely be competing in heavyweight division of most powerlifting federations. I think the popular federation of MFP is the IPF (USAPL if you're in the states). As stated, go to a meet, see how you like it, get your lifter's…

I'll give you an "inspiring" to that!

A glorious 3-plate dip with a body weight at damn near 200 lbs. Oh, and he's shirtless and hot af!
-
What you're seeing here is a standard rack pull, using a block to position himself in a desirable spot to work on what might be his sticking point. The safety pin only allows the bar to be what looks like no closer than two feet off of the ground. My sticking/slow point is about one foot off of the ground so I'd definitely…

See a doctor

That is bad advice. Some people are very aggressive with their weight loss however, and there's not much you can do to change their minds.

Some bench sets from yesterday morning. Progressing nicely! https://www.instagram.com/p/BMOgktDgQ4R/
