Looks as though you got married last Saturday? Congratulations!
-
@bjcrewe, where are you?!

I like this feature on days when I've messed up and gone over, and dread the next morning's weigh-in. "If every day were like today, in five weeks you'd weigh" not all that much more, really. It helps remind me that one messed-up day isn't so bad. Keeps me from getting disheartened.
-
@bjcrewe, so how are you feeling?
-
bjcrewe, any update? Surgery still happening?

I second this. I never heard of a refeed before MFP. It just makes so much sense. Eating at a deficit for months can be so danged tedious. It's good to know that taking a break from it periodically will make me more successful in the long run.

BJCrewe, please let us know how things are going for you. So many are rooting for you here.

BJCrewe, it's 12 days since we've heard from you. Lots of us want to know how you're doing. Please post something if you possibly can.

Trader Joe's has tinned farm raised smoked trout in canola oil, in a can about the size of a small sardine can. 90 calories for 2 oz (56 grams) drained. I love sardines, but I like this trout for a change. A bit lighter and less fishy.

I hope the move goes well. I'm looking forward to an update on your progress whenever the dust settles.

@GottaBurnEmAll Ah. Thanks.

[quote="VintageFeline;c-40777736 It's also not a carb free for all either. The "trendy" version of refeeds isn't used correctly by most people who do indeed just have a 5 hours free for all. If done correctly as advised by the total charlatan Lyle McDonald then you do it for a minimum of 2 days. You still log and track,…

I really like this. Instead of calling your birthday a cheat day and going bonkers, you celebrated by having all the things you wanted in a planned and mindful two-week celebration. Wouldn't work for me for Thanksgiving and Christmas this year since I'll be a guest for both these occasions, but I'm going to remember this…

Ha ha ha! This is the stuff of sitcoms. Frustrating, but pretty funny. And congrats on your 1-pound loss. Do you feel any different yet? A tiny bit lighter, stronger, more energetic, more flexible? It was these types of physical changes that motivated me early on. It won't be long before you're feeling different, if you…

Hey, BJcrewe, I don't want to be a pest. I look forward to your posts and I love all the support the community was giving you. But if you've decided to stop posting on this thread for awhile in order to focus on other things, then I respect that and I won't be a nag. Or maybe you're keeping up more with MFP friends and not…

BJCrewe, where are you today? I look for your posts daily. I hope all is well.

After I dropped the first 30 by eating less/moving more, I happened upon an exercise I love -- rowing. I wanted to row better, so that motivated me to keep losing weight but also to get stronger. Rowing is still my favorite, but I realized I needed exercise that didn't require special equipment and wasn't weather…

I have two cups of coffee every other day. I find that if I drink it daily, I become physically dependent and suffer mild headache and sluggishness if I'm unable to have it for whatever reason (camping trip/power outage). If I hold it to every other, I'm able to skip two days in a row without difficulty. And if I had…

I've been lurking and reading since you started this thread, but haven't posted on it yet. I just want to add my very good wishes to everyone else's, from Englewood, Florida (Gulf Coast, south of Sarasota).

I focus on what I can DO now, and the way it feels to move. Bend over to pick something up and straighten up with ease, stand longer without longing for a chair, jog from the car to my destination instead of walking. I love noticing these things, and it's so motivating. These are what help me to know that my body is very…

I lost my first 10 pounds on the stress-from-moving diet. Surprise, I didn't gain it back when the stress was over, so I upped my exercise and just generally tried to eat less. Lost another 20 -- wow! Stalled, so joined this app and logged my food with measuring cups and estimating; another 5 pounds gone. Stalled again,…

I remember at one point Weight Watchers started counting a point for some quantity of cooked carrots but the same quantity of raw ones was free. I assume this is because one can eat many more cooked carrots, and also the calories in them are more accessible in the digestive system.

Heat just until wilted, sprinkle on red wine vinegar.

I drink a blend of 100% cranberry juice unsweetened, and water -- 4 oz juice, 28 oz water (I mix it up in an empty 32-oz juice bottle). Diluted this much, it's a lot like unsweetened iced tea, but I like it better (and darn, it's such a pretty color). But I drink it because I like it, and I drink maybe 16 oz per day at…

I've lost only 50 pounds, but I've kept it off for over a year now. I experienced a lot of what other posters are describing, but probably to a lesser degree because my weight loss wasn't as large. What helped me was focusing on how much I could do now, not on how I looked. Even realizing that I'm more comfortable standing…

Try sucking on a hard candy, a ginger one if you have it, or a lollipop. Gets the saliva flowing and a wee bit of cals into your system.

I always find your posts interesting, informative, or funny -- sometimes all three. Congratulations and best wishes for your continued success.

Very interesting episode of "This American Life" on National Public Radio this past week. Focused on two women, around the same starting height/weight stats, one of whom made her peace with being 100+ pounds overweight, the second who took meds (phentermine!) to drop the extra. Act Two, the woman who lost the weight, is…

Wait, what? You ATE COTTON BALLS? Was this some kind of eat-before-your-meal-to-fill-your-stomach thing? How were they coming out the other end?

I'm 5' 5", starting weight was about 200, current weight 140. A few people asked whether I'd lost weight at the 20-lb mark. I got "Wow, you've lost weight" starting around 25 pounds gone, so about 12% of my body weight. At first I loved it when people commented, but now, to be honest, I'm kind of sick of it. Some people I…
