I'm 60, and had high blood pressure for several years and was on Hydrochlorothiazide and Diltiazem, and Metoprolol for fast heart rate. I've lost 93 pounds from my highest weight and am off all those drugs. My blood pressure is currently normal to low-normal, with Systolic ranging from 101 to 118, usually somewhere in…

I was on another beta-blocker, Metoprolol, for several years to slow my heart rate and I maintained my weight during that time - a high weight, but I maintained it. I was able to lose about 55 pounds while I was on them, and that weight loss combined with the drug made my blood pressure drop too low, so my doctor took me…

I have an MFP friend at 1578 days.

The horse on the right should fit your needs. I'd go for the hat as well.

What, you don't like being shamed? Yet you start a thread to shame a huge percentage of the MFP community who uses a food scale? Really? No, that was not the point of your post, the point of your post was to show that you are better than other people, and that many MFP members are to be pitied for doing something that you…

Just to help folks who may now reply to the OP, he hasn't logged into MFP since May 2nd. This thread was bumped from March 19th by somebody this morning, so the OP probably won't be reading your replies.

I posted this in this thread on September 26, 2015. Since then, I have lost another 34 pounds, and am at what I am calling my "possibly revised upper goal weight." I started out setting a goal of 135 pounds, but am still not sure I want to go that low, so I'm thinking of hanging out at this weight (145 or so) for a while…

I feel sorry for those people who need to start a thread putting down others who do things in a different way than they do in order to feel superior.

Height: 5'6.5" Age: 60.9 High weight: 238 Starting weight: 230 Current weight: 144.8 Except for about six weeks last summer walking 4-5 days a week, burning at most 100 calories per day, no exercise. No longer pre-diabetic, off two blood pressure meds and statin for cholesterol, blood pressure is normal to low-normal.

Wow, what an awesome story and accomplishment, both the weight loss and fitness increase. Did you do the trail all at once, or spread it out over weeks/months? Beautiful scenery.

I've been reading these forums for almost a year and a half, and I absolutely do see the reason they should be posted here. Thread after thread is started by people who have just started, or are well into their weight loss, and they believe that they can't do it, that they don't have the motivation, discipline, knowledge…

Hahaha, that's too funny. Congratulations, and also congrats on the weight you've already lost - that's a wonderful accomplishment. I hope that .4 pounds (I count those, yes I do, every ounce counts) is the sound of that plateau going buh-bye. Typing as a weight-loss strategy . . . I could do that! :)

I continue to progress: I've now lost a two-month old horse minus a sperm whale's brain.

Thanks for telling me your height. I did what you said and input a higher number into MFP and I see what you mean. But, if that is the number it gives you, then I have no idea how you can not be losing weight at 1500 calories. Very odd. I also don't open my diary because I keep a lot of personal info in it. That said, I…

I agree that this is a fun thing to do, and I used to do it. However, at 84 pounds down, I've decided that it may not be the best thing for my back. :)

Ahhh, the funny things I learn or realize from using MFP. I keep seeing people mention the direction, and after reading your comment, I thought about which way I shop, and realized that I always shop counter-clockwise. Upon further reflection, I realized that I actually feel a bit uncomfortable when I think about shopping…

How tall are you though? It matters. I'll just say that whatever your nutritionist is telling you is obviously not working at all. So, in my opinion, you should throw out what she told you and start anew here. I cannot believe that MFP would give you anything like 2 to 3 thousand calories to eat. Plug your numbers in here,…

In case you missed my question:
-
OP, how tall are you and what is your current weight? I'm asking because the calories given by MFP to lose weight are based on height and current weight. Your 1500 calories may be too much depending on your height.

My store is similar to yours:

That would be me. I started off just caring about calories, but after much learning on MFP, I started paying attention to my macros, then my micros, and now, every single day, I track all of the ones that MFP has for their standard settings. I like data, and I have nothing better to do, so I actually find it fun. But I…

I think this is a great idea. Go back to school for a certificate course in something you find interesting, or something you never thought you could do, like learn some art skills or a language. It will get you around people of like minds, keep you busy and possibly lead you to another part-time job, who knows. Since you…

This is mine, I love it, use it every day and it's pretty on my countertop. Wow, they dropped the price to $12.95, I paid double for mine last year: https://amazon.com/Ozeri-Epicurean-Removable-Weighing-Platform/dp/B005WLPVUG/ref=sr_1_5?srs=2598028011&ie=UTF8&qid=1469882829&sr=8-5&keywords=food+scale

I've been eating Fiber One Original through my entire weight loss process, coupled with Greek yogurt. I need the yogurt for the Original, as it's not the tastiest cereal, and I don't use milk on my cereal (I know, weird). I'm on 1200 calories a day, and 44 grams of Original gives me all my fiber for the day at 88 calories,…

This thread is 9 years old - I'd be surprised if any of these people are still on the site.
