  • Thanks for the link @AigreDoux ! I'm looking for a program, too. Much appreciated.
  • I think they only do that to make themselves feel better about eating junk. In the office I work, everyone knows I'm not touching naughty food so they've stopped offering. But it did take a while for the message to sink in..
  • @mochachichi is spot on. If you do want to do carb loading, you have to do it properly otherwise it won't work to it's full potential (or at all). Also, it's a good idea to try out carb loading a few times before the event to know how your body reacts to it and what foods to choose for best results. Probably best not to…
  • Doing alright in Coventry
  • Love watermelon! Shame its GI is quite high..

  • My sweet treats are protein smoothie (I add banana, strawberries, honey, cinnamon, milk) and cottage cheese with fresh berries and honey. I have completely given up sweet treats with added sugar. I find it so much easier to control my eating if I don't have any added sugar/junk food in my diet.

  • I quit smoking a few years ago while I was losing weight at the same time. What I also took up at that same time was exercising. It seems that brain does need a substitute when you quit smoking. Weather it's eating, gym or any other activity that keeps your mind busy...
  • I agree with @cajuntank , my speed has increased a lot since I've started lifting weights. Also, I seem to be able to run faster for a longer period of time.
  • Depending on your workouts - you might be gaining muscle (which is heavier than fat). I've been on the same weight for a REALLY long time (over a year) but the way I look has changed a lot. But then again - my goal is to lose fat and not weight (although I wouldn't mind that too  )
  • Great job! Curious to see how shredded you'll by August! Keep us posted.
  • Look up Charles Eugster. I think it's very impressive what he has achieved!
  • It is indeed :-)
  • My suggestion was to increase protein while lowering the fat at the same time thus having the same amount of calories consumed altogether.
  • It's fine if it works for you but if you want to stay full for longer and are worried about your fat intake, why not increase your protein intake while lowering the fat..?
  • So sorry @betheriver , don't know why I assumed you were female! Comment about protein still stands though.
  • I'd say you need to up your protein intake and lower the carbs. Taking into account your age, building muscle is not as easy as when we were 20  Also, it's a bit more difficult to lose fat % for a female, especially if you want to get them below average. Good luck with reaching your goals though, I think you're…
  • Agree with all the above but also, try HIIT.
  • As you've changed your exercise routine, maybe you need to look at changing your diet a bit too
  • I eat loads of veggies - they are good but when it comes to fruit - I am a bit careful. They also come with a fair bit of carbs. I do track my sugar intake as there are many foods out there that you wouldn't think have any sugar at all. Try to choose fruit that are lower in GI.
  • I agree with @synacious 100%. If it feels naturally - go for it. I would definitely struggle to consume 1500 calories is such a short period of time.
  • I think the best way forward is exercise and good nutrition. Also, might want to look at other factors (like wedding stress) that might be preventing you from reaching your goals. Nutrition is definitely the key when it comes to losing weight.
  • I struggle with protein intake but that's due to me not eating meat (I do love fish though) so I have a protein smoothy (usually with 1 banana and/or some strawberries and milk) for my breakfast and oftentimes post workout. I wouldn't get carried away with bars due to relatively high carb/sugar contents. I do love my…
  • Without knowing what's your daily caloric intake and how the macros are split, it's very difficult to suggest anything..

  • in what way are carbs 'only good for bodybuilders'???[/quote] Carbs are body's preferred source of energy. If you don't work out hard, you don't really need that many carbs throughout the day, hence the "low carb/high fat diet works for so many people.
  • Also, might want to look at where those calories come from. "If it fits my macros" approach might not work for everyone. I personally am completely against it.
  • Yes @sistrsprkl, that is what I hope to work on in a very near future. The drug curls look something I would like to have a go at @nakedraygun. Never heard of them before so something a bit different. Thanks :-)
  • Thank you guys! A very good guess @Danny_Boy13, I am among the ones who can't do chinups/pullups but I would love to be able to..
  • Coventry here - the boring Midlands, according to @dufus12 :-)
  • I can see where everyone's coming from - fair enough. To me tea is still tea and water is water. And as @clrug0912 says - another glass of water won't hurt :-)
