The best advice out there is to write it down. Be honest and give yourself small goals that you can check off and get some traction with.

Going for completion of a 5k or trying to beat a certain time?
-
I agree. Small goals make it much easier. A lot of little victories seems better to me than waiting for one big one. And I will cut out the Dew.

I completed every exercise goal today and walked twice on top of it. My calorie intake is a little high. The input side is where my problem is. It's hard to work off 1000 extra calories a day.

I like the measurement idea.

Brain imbalance is no different than body imbalance. Took me a long time to figure that out and reach for help.

So what's your plan? Can't motivate until we know. Set a short term goal that we can push you toward.....or pull......or drag by your ankles. Whatever works. I'm at 305 as of today and I have a L-O-N-G way to go.

Live in a small town too (30,000). I have the benefit of having grown up here though. Hard to find friends. Hang in there.

I'm trying to break into the 200s. My heaviest was 311 and I am at 305 right now. Cutting out soft drinks and fast food is a huge step for me.

Way to go!

I dropped 4 pounds this week cutting out Mtn Dew and doing some very light exercise. Going to up the exercise this week and have very specific plans for when I drink something other than water. It's 3 cans this week instead of the 6 cans a day that I used to do.

Going to up the exercise level this week with my first jog in a LONG time on Saturday. Last time I "ran" was a pathetic 5k that I finished in 45 minutes back in October. Monday through Friday are a lot of body weight exercises to make my muscles remember how to work together.
-
Keep going. That is the most important element. Keep on keeping on. I had some Mt Dew today and it still tastes good. But I'm looking forward to another week of just drinking water with meals.

Exactly what I'm looking for! I'm Richard Weight: 308 Thanksgiving Goal: 258 Weight Goal: 215 Plan to reduce calorie intake and start exercising four times per week. My favorite form of exercise would be some heavy duty hiking. But I have to work back into that shape. My low calorie snack would be almonds or carrot sticks.…

First week of June my son has an airsoft event that I get to take part in. My first short term goal is being able to hike up and down hills for a couple of days for that. Going to start some jogging next week.
-
Pretty sure that would kill me at this point.

I'm 41 and heavier than I have ever been. I get out of breath going from the basement to the main level of my house. Started out this week by cutting Mt Dew from my drinking and adding light exercise. It has been a rough week.
