  • Hi Ladies, Just touching base. Following my food plan very well. Still haven't added a regular exercise plan. Getting lots of walking in; just at work though. Scale seems to be stuck at the same number, won't budge. I've been yo-yo dieting for 30 years so I think my body knows how to hold on to the fat when I try to do…
  • Sounds amazing! What a bold choice to tackle something like that! I am very impressed! Thanks for showing us what is possible! Elizabeth in CA[/quote] I did the quote thing wrong... I am not doing the hike! Marci is the brave soul tackling the PCT. I was just giving her kudos. I hope to one day. All respect and admiration…
  • I am hiking a section of the PCT in California no less! We will begin our hike out of Mt Shasta. I love northern California and the scenery should be beautiful. The elevation is 7000 to 7400 ft for this portion. I am doing hikes at the local ski area with an elevation of 7200 to 7400 ft and in the surrounding mountains.…
  • Beneita, The group is 50 plus... it's like the hotel California...You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave. I just turned 50 on May 31st and I'm delighted that I qualify to hang out with this group as long as I care to. Welcome aboard! Elizabeth in CA
  • Good morning ladies, Welcome to all the newcomers. I have been trying to keep up with all the new posts but this sure is a talkative group. :) So much great stuff, I wish I had more time to comment. Staying within my calories but scale doesn't seem to want to move this week. I know if I stay consistent it has to…
  • I recommend blueberries and raspberries. They are both low carb and high fiber. Full of good nutrients and pretty satisfying without adding a ton of fruity sugar. If you need more calories, add them to yogurt and you get more vitamins and a little protein.
  • Marci, You are so lucky!! I wish I could do that hike with you. I live in Bakersfield and there is a section of the trail that passes right through the mountains just east of me. I was thinking of tackling that portion in the fall. Are you doing anything in particular to train for the hike? What is the altitude of the part…
  • Thanks for the encouraging words. On a positive note, I have been under my calories for most days and so MFP admonishes me for not eating enough. Yesterday and today, during my binge, it said that if I keep it up I will lose 7 lbs in 5 weeks. Maybe it wasn't as terrible as it felt. The earth continued to turn on it's axis…
  • Morning ladies, I really over-indulged yesterday. My daughter was in Orange County and offered to pick up food at one of my old favorites and bring it home to me in Bakersfield. I texted back, NO thanks. She called me, again I said no thanks, and then she said "when is the next time you are going to be able to...." I…
  • I remember sweatin to the oldies in VHS days. Kool, fun and it works. Enjoy it!
  • I don’t want to brag or make anybody jealous, but I can still fit into the earrings I wore in high school. Janet Myrtle Beach, SC, That is too funny! Elizabeth in CA
  • Hi Ladies, Elizabeth here again, thanks for all the warm welcomes. A little more about me, I am 50 and single. I have one daughter who is 28 and no grandchildren. I work in furniture sales so I walk 3 to 5 miles every day. I live in Bakersfield California. It is hot and dry and hot! I have tons of workout equipment and…
  • Hi Ladies, I am new to MFP. I just celebrated my 50th birthday. I am committed to getting fit this year. I have about 40lbs to lose. In addition to the weight loss, I want to get fit i.e. strong, healthy and active. I really like the positive support I see in this group. How do I join?
