  • I have been eating more sauerkraut recently and that seems to be helping a lot with all of the bugs going around. I found a brand called Othentic which is terrific, tastes really fresh and tangy. It has 5 grams of carbs but 4 grams of fiber for just 1g net. And it's a good source of sodium and potassium.
  • I use my gluten allergy and close family history of diabetes (my younger sister, brother and my mom have all been diagnosed within the past year) as my reasons for eating keto when people have anything negative to say. It seems to quiet them down pretty quickly.
  • That's my favorite way to enjoy kale. Fry up some bacon, set it aside, cook up the kale with some chopped garlic then add the bacon back in. Yum, yum!
  • This has been my experience as well. I can eat all kinds of 'gassy' veggies and have little to no gas but if I eat processed carbs I am gassy and bloated for a day or two.
  • In the interest of full disclosure, I messed up big time last Thursday. Chinese Buffet and a whole carton of ice cream. The whole week leading up to that wasn't great, but it had been an improvement, and I blew it. I stayed off the scale for a few days because I was so disappointed in myself. Got back on track with my keto…
  • We're happy you're here!
  • I love to make egg salad with avocado instead of mayo and eat it with pork rinds.
  • Welcome! I would suggest looking into joining the Low Carber Daily Forum group. They provide a wealth of great tips and information from credible sources. One thing that has been very helpful to me is understanding that a low carbohydrate diet, especially the 20 grams of net carbs you get during induction, will cause you…
  • I started my day with BPC and a couple of slices of bacon today and I feel great. I didn't like coffee before but when you add butter, hwc and coconut oil it tastes great. I'll be full for hours and have a nice 'kick' from the caffeine. Last night I cooked up some chicken sausages in bacon fat then pulled them out of the…
  • 1/11/17 - 208.6 lbs. 1/18/17 - 208.2 lbs. A small loss but a loss nonetheless. Another birthday party this past weekend and I didn't plan ahead. I know what I need to do, it's just a matter of doing it. Good luck and keep up the good work!!
  • I learned this afternoon that my Mom has been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. My younger sister had been diagnosed last February and my younger brother in December. Can I tell you all how grateful I am that I started watching my calories in 2015 and restarted Keto in July of last year? My A1C in September was a nice,…
  • I used to have issues with constipation when I was following low carb many years ago. This time I am doing a better job keeping my electrolytes up (especially magnesium) and am not having any issues. The best way to be sure you're getting enough magnesium is to increase your dose slightly each day until you start having…
  • As long as it tastes good the macros look fine.
  • Good morning Keto Family. I feel much better than I did at this time last week so that says a lot about our Keto lifestyle. Yesterday was my birthday and we celebrated at a hibachi restaurant on Sunday. I went off plan for one meal Sunday and I had dessert after dinner last night but overall I am really happy with where I…
  • As of this morning my new current weight is 208.6 lbs. I am happy to be down the 1.2 lbs. considering yesterday was my birthday and the celebration went on for a few days
  • @amyinthetardis1231 take it easy and take care of yourself. I really like chicken broth with a little butter or coconut oil when I'm not feeling well. I hope you feel better soon!!
  • I already feel better, it's amazing what just 3 days of keto eating can do for us. I lost 1.6lbs. of water weight overnight. That really makes a big difference. I have also successfully gotten in more steps each day this week than the week before. Today I am shooting to surpass my 10,000 step goal and keep that going for…
  • Good morning everyone! I am right here with you all. I have been on a serious back slide for the past few months. I started measuring and logging accurately yesterday and today I got on the scale to see that I've gained 22 lbs. back since September. I'm looking forward to checking in with you all regularly to keep each…
  • I'm back Ladies and Gentlemen. As I am sure many other people have done, I let it all slide during the holidays and am back up over 200. New Starting Weight: 1/3/2017 209.8 lbs. Goal Weight: 150 lbs. Every day is a new day. It's time to start making better choices again.
  • Halloween candy got me, but only a little bit. Up to 193.4lbs today. Not so bad, indulged a bit yesterday but I am doing great today. Next week will look much better.
  • I made my first Fathead pizza tonight and I was really happy with how it came out. Better yet, my non low carb hubby really liked it. I also used a Passata sauce, it's much lower in carbs than other jarred sauces.
  • How about when you only eat spinach when it has been sauteed in bacon fat?
  • Thanks for the link. I like how they give you the ingredients when you click on the information 'i'. That helps a lot with food allergies.
  • Phew! Finally feeling back on track. Work is still kicking my a** but things are getting better. Weigh in today is 192.2lbs. Back down from a recent water weight high of 199.6, and an original starting weight of 251.8 in March of 2015. Keep up the good work Keto Family!!
  • I went shopping for a suitable interview outfit yesterday, I'm finally looking for my first nursing job as an RN. I was able to go to the store, shop in the Misses section and find a lovely shirt dress and coordinating jacket that look amazing right off the rack. It was so much fun!

  • Whoops, I missed last week. I'm at 194.4lbs today. I had been having some trouble keeping my carbs down. I ate a coconut macaroon at the fair and it sent me into a spiral (not actually that bad) for a week. Getting back on track. I've started back doing the Stronglifts program so I am feeling sore but oh so good.
  • Yup, sometimes I lie down on the bed and shake my belly fat to see if how much less of it there is. I have no shame!
  • 108 is above normal for a fasting blood glucose. Mine was actually 106 on Friday 9/23 when I had mine done. My A1C is 5.4 so I am not too worried. I also have PCOS and Hypothyroid. I do want to talk to my doc about getting a prescription for a blood glucose monitor so that I can check it myself regularly and see if I can…
  • Mine is public, I've been pretty good about logging, even the naughty bits this past weekend.
