I'd love to join in - I took a class on this and it needs consistent practice. Step one was to determine if you're eating out of hunger or for some other reason (like a schedule (diet), or stress, etc.). There really is a great process to work through, and it takes practice. The class I took was based on this book:…

It takes courage to go, so congrats for your attempt! We are at are most vulnerable in workout gear with unfamiliar equipment. After the first few days, the others get to know and accept you, and eventually become your friends. In short, you got over the hardest, scariest visit. Keep your head up and keep at it! (When I…

I'm with you. I took my dog to a training class that had 2-way glass and caught a look at myself...and only saw the fat. On the plus side, I have decided that short sleeves don't cover up my fat arms anyway, so I've gone sleeveless for working out this summer! ROFLMAO Maybe I'll get a little bit of a tan.

Thank you for posting about your success. Many of us are troubled by addiction (it's in my family) and it's comforting to hear a story like yours. It's hard enough to talk about a "regular" weight problem, so I salute your courage here. Thanks again, and Godspeed on your continuing recovery!

Too funny! My grandparents emigrated from Germany when my father was about 16. (they later became citizens, he never did). On my mother's side my ancestors also came from Germany, so the tall strong build was inevitable.
-
Hi Lisa, I have that "German farm girl" build also, and it's tough for high school boys to appreciate the tall beautiful young women. Hopefully that changed for you in college as it did me. I find that many men seem to prefer tall and healthy (even sturdy), so no wishful thinking here. I think our world is just different…

Hi Claire, I had the vitamin D deficiency (and anemia and B12 deficiency) and it can definitely make a difference. More protein might help as well. Also, depression can manifest in the form of fatigue. Have you assessed your risk for depression? ...and sometimes "eating really healthy" can make you tired (and cranky),…

Jazzercize - done!

Good list! I agree that the "beautiful" and "rich" are no happier than anyone else, and I live close enough to a very wealthy area to know it's true. I also love the "keep it simple" example. In that vein, another of my life lessons (learned the hard way, of course)... If you cannot have a good time, get a good story!…

Happy Monday!

2.3 miles walking today, with dog. I think that should count as an upper-body workout!(?) Dog is 115 pounds of muscle, pulling at times.
-
I also forget sometimes too. I have lost over 75 pounds, but still have a way to go. Weird, though, when I go to jazzercise, I look at my jiggly arms, but also look at my muscles or the (newish) curve at my waist, and also whether I'm doing the move correctly! All at the same time. Today I wore a sleeveless dress and have…

I wore a sleeveless dress! Outside! It's a big deal because I have very large arms. Now I just need some sun on them...

over yesterday, shaky today

hi all! Present.

I'm loving Cize! I am switching between the first 2 workouts "Crazy 8s" and "You got this" until next week. The songs are fun and it doesn't seem like a workout, which I really like! A friend told me there was a sign or maybe a youtube video that let's you see one of the Cize workouts, I will try to find it and share it…

good morning! I'm here today

ps. here's a video based on a short story I found very inspirational and I think it's appropriate here. It's a children's story but I learned from it. You are Special

Lisa, thanks for your response. I felt a little guilty after my post, perhaps I've not had it as hard, or maybe I have a thicker skin, or maybe I just am not that observant of others' reactions to me. I'm so sorry for your bad experience. I can say this about the gym - it takes the most courage the first time, and "those…
