  • I like to support and be supported by my friends. We kind of keep each other going and share tips and tricks, successes and failures, but NO QUIT!
  • I think I sent you a friend request, but I'm a little rusty at this! 🙂
  • If you are now comfortable at 20 minutes, by all means, push your time up. At one time I was doing 60 minutes on the elliptical (I called it the terminator) and I felt great. Due to back injury and knees in bad shape, had to sell mine and go to a recumbent bike (getting older sucks) Good luck!
  • This is my 3rd, or is it 4th time back. I find the same thing when I come back. All my supportive friends have stopped, or drifted or.... ??? I lost 77 lbs and was within 30 lbs of my goal last year when my son died and all motivation... for anything... was gone, and of course... food was my comfort. I gained it all back…
  • Okay, I'm a newby and getting in on this very late, but participating and I would like to participate in the future! Love this idea! :) Day/ Weight/ Comment 06/22 251.8 Yay, nearly 20 lbs gone! 06/23 252.2 Wait... what? I'll try harder 06/24 251.2 Great! Now we're getting somewhere! 06/25 251.0 .2 ? Okay, it least it…
  • My go to is a tuna salad. I keep boiled eggs in the fridge, use the egg whites, substitute cucumber for pickles (because of the salt and the cucumbers give it another texture and a crunch) Lite Salad dressing (20 calories) and a can of tuna. I use the Pak-it lunch containers you freeze which keeps everything nice and cold.
  • Yes, there is a particular reason I am trying to avoid salt. In the last 6 months or so, if I eat anything salty I swell up like a balloon. It seems to have eased a bit since restarting my journey and doing my exercise, but it still an issue, also, depending on the day, I have a tendency to come near, or over on my sodium…
  • I just saw this challenge, just getting back in after falling off March of 2018 when my son died. I put back all the weight, plus 16 lbs. However, in the interest of getting started on these challenges, SW 269.8 June beginning weight was 262.8 Current weight is 250.6.... but I've been stuck for about a week. Maybe I can…
  • My solution to the chocolate craving has been Hershey's dark chocolate kisses, only 2 or 3, they're 17 calories a piece. I also turn to the sugar free chocolate pudding. These two seem to rid me of my cravings.
  • I have done both.... the peanut butter on my finger (amazing how satisfying that can be) and the shredded cheese! I tried it with green olives... way too much sodium though.... lived to regret that one.
  • Hi! I am 56 and starting over on this again. I was almost to goal when my son died and it all went downhill. This is my 3rd attempt. The first time I lied to myself and told myself it would be okay if I took a break between Christmas and New Years and it took me over a year to get back on. I have 118.4 lbs to lose and I…

  • I have 120 to lose. Looking fotward to sharing the journey!
  • I chose my goal weight based on when I felt the best and looked the best. at 137 my chest bones stuck out, my tail bone etc and I was constantly bruising protruding bones. At 147, I was a size 4 and I felt great, I'm 5'3". I would like to go 5 lbs under that while I find my best maintenance path. I do mini-goals so the…
  • That's amazing, I was the exact same size when I started, and I am the same size as you now... and my first goal is the same as yours...and I'm so close I can smell it (201.2) and I've been stuck here for over a week. I have a sprained ankle, foot, and lower leg and can't get on my elliptical like I want to. I need to quit…
  • Wow! I can see there are certainly 2 sides to the starvation mode debate! I agree with it because by whatever name, my body has done it....for like, oh, over 30 years? (Had my first child at 21...been battling every since) I really have enjoyed all the view points and great information everyone has shared. This is a really…
  • You can add me too! I started with 90 to lose and have lost 34 so far. I feel like I have fought for every single pound but slowly but surely they add up and now I've found I've lost a couple of sizes and I'm even moving better. I don't drag around slowly, my pace is quicker again now...we'll all get there if we stick…
  • I actually read the article you posted. I understand peer reviewed articles and statistics (very well) and the conditions she describes are not what I'm saying.... although, she does in a way support my point. If you look at my food diary and at the bottom my caloric intake for the last month... it's been between 593 & on…
  • Need2Exerc1se and MasterVal, Thank you for your responses. When bclarke wrote "there is no starvation mode" I didn't want anyone else who read this thread to actually believe that because I truly know better and obviously the two of you do too. People should do some reading, research, etc before they say something like…
  • Here is another article I just read that might explain better what I could not... http://www.everydayhealth.com/weight/can-more-calories-equal-more-weight-loss.aspx
  • I have had a couple of replies to my comment about starvation mode. This is not a myth, I have done my research and have known this for MANY years, thus why I have managed to maintain a comfortable weight for most of my 52 years until health problems began about 3-4 years ago. Please view this article and read several…
  • I didn't mean I was starving, I meant when your body doesn't take enough in, it begins to store what you actually do take in. I'm not sure what the motivation was in your post, but... wow..... I was just talking about plateaus and really trying to avoid one. I'm on 1200 calories a day, and yesterday took in just over…
  • Hmmmm.... well, last year I lost 27 lbs, and then nothing, for 7 weeks, no cheating no nothing and didn't lose one ounce... that couldn't have been water....just relaying to you how my body sometimes betrays me even though I am really trying super hard to keep the faith and not give up. I didn't gain.... I just didn't lose…
  • I think I told you at some point I am not good at finding responses on here or making them, but I'm glad I found yours. It seems we have a great deal in common. I did notice your diet and it seems your calorie intake is set much higher and your protein is also set higher. I had lost 34 lbs so far, but this morning....I'd…
  • Yes, you are a100% right! (Wish I saw your post before I made my chocolate pudding....soup) I will try that though I am not a greek yogurt fan in the slightest, maybe I can handle it mixed in? Thank you for the great tip!
