If this is just a once in a while thing, think about the last time you had a treat, and how long ago it was. Now imagine that slice of cake you're about to eat divided up over all those days since your last treat. Not so scary anymore, is it? :)

I will hit my one-year streak tomorrow (!!) and I've lost 36 pounds ... some of them more than once! ;) I guess I'm an overachiever like that. I've got 10 more pounds to go and I can use all the motivation I can get. Sending friend request!!

Wait ... are people matching phone cases to their outfits now? I am so out of touch. I have exactly one phone case.

It may have to do with how the steps/activity was distributed throughout the day. Activity trackers seem to value steps that are spread out more over the day vs. taken all at once.
-
My understanding is that BMR doesn't include any activity, so since the two people in your example have different body fat %, their BMR is different and will always be different.

What do you have your weekly loss set to? If you're trying to lose 1 lb. per week, for example, add 500 to your daily goal, and that would be your maintenance (500 x 7 days = 3500; 3500 calories in 1 lb. of fat).
-
If you've gone over your calorie goal by a few, you can still be losing weight. As long as you're not eating over your maintenance calories. Does that answer your question?

Ugh. The mini pill. Worst decision ever. I was bleeding about 75% of the time I was on that pill. Miserable.

12/8/15: 144.6 Weekly loss: 2 lbs. Total challenge loss: 2 lbs. I somehow lost more than I thought I would this week. But I'm happy for the head start.

Never done one of these before, but count me in! SW: 146.6 GW: 140

I use California Olive Ranch brand. I think it was on one of those lists of reputable olive oils, though I couldn't point you to that list at this point. Also, I like the bottle. :)

I thought that if you set it for 1 lb. per week it reduced your calories by 500 per day ... 3500 calories in 1 lb. of fat, divided by 7 days in a week equals 500 calories per day.

Anybody read Pillars of the Earth? I loooooved that book. I have the next one in the series sitting in my bookcase, just waiting for me to finish reading The Thornbirds.

You'll get a lot of different opinions on whether or not to eat back your exercise calories, but it seems like a lot of people decide to eat back about half of them.

Book lover here, too! And also from Chicago! (Go Cubs!!) I tried listing some of my favorites, but I seem to have a mental block at the moment and can barely remember what a book looks like. Urgh. Too much working.

Hi there! I only fit one of your criteria (I'm female, but I'm under 40 and only have 23 lbs. left to lose), but I'd like some more friends, too, and would love to help motivate you as you work towards your goal. I'm sending you a friend request! H

Even if the generic entries are your own recipes, make sure the calorie counts and portion sizes are precise. Like, seriously, be obsessive about accuracy. Also, LOG EVERYTHING YOU EAT. EVERYTHING. Weigh as much of it as you can. Once you're logging daily, and accurately, you might be surprised how many calories you're…

Thank you ladies so much. I needed the reminder to take some time for myself.

Don't lose hope! It's very, very common to hit a plateau during weight loss. You will lose a lot very quickly at the beginning of your journey, but the losses will taper off. This is also common! And completely normal! So just keep working at it, keep your calorie count where it should be, keep working out, and the pounds…

I would love that! Sending friend request. :)

The weight you're losing now is most likely water weight. If you truly want or need to lose fat, it's a slow process. That's just how it is.

The community here is definitely very knowledgeable, but they do have some pet peeves that you want to be aware of. For example, search for the answers you're looking for on the boards before asking a question. Because if it's something that has been asked 1000 times before, people might jump down your throat. Also, fad…
