  • Me, I am direct and honest and I can't remember the last time anything shocked or offended me. :D
  • Hunger is the reason most people end up yoyo dieting, cave and put it all back on again. I know, I did it for 20 years. The last 4 years though, I've been able to stick to my calorie goal, and hunger (that gnawing kind that makes you forget your diet) is a thing of the past. Low carb, moderate protein and plenty of fat.…

  • I got a couple of new dresses for work last week (from Savers - a large 2nd hand clothing store, and a great source of affordable clothing when you're losing weight). Then didn't have any spare coat hangers. Which led to going through my hanging space and trying on clothes, removing the ones that are too big. Now I have a…
  • There are a lot of protein bars that are 2 - 3g of carbs, not 16g. They're good in a pinch. I wouldn't suggest eating them all the time though. With 4+ years of low carb under my belt I can confidently say that eating these bars tends to hinder, if not stall, my weightloss (even without increasing calories). I'm not alone…
  • I'm a 9.5 - only because there's always room to grow. I'm smart, gainfully employed, I'm kind and considerate, I'm a good friend, I help people and I give selflessly. I treat my hubby with respect, I keep a nice clean house, I can rebuild an engine, ride a horse, sew a quilt, fix, ride or drive pretty much anything. I take…
  • I can't eat Atkins bars. The stall my weightloss something shocking - even if I'm under calories. I do keep a couple of Protein FX bars and Quest bars in the cupboard for those times when you just gotta, but I'd eat maybe one a fortnight. Easter Sunday I went out and bought a 100g block of dark chocolate. 27g of carbs in…
  • Okay, so it's not in fact a typo in the post title, and it is in fact the super gross thing I was afraid it would be. Hell will freeze over before I'll eat bugs of any kind.
  • *shrug* ... who knows. Maybe grab a pizza and some beers and try and figure it out.
  • Mine and thousands of others. And I'm willing to bet that anyone who's tried it and NOT had their appetite reduce has not done it for long enough, and has not actually eaten properly low carb, or has had too many cheats. It only works if you do it properly and stick to it long enough to switch your body to fat burning…
  • Doctors aren't always right. My Doctor told me the other day that because there was type 2 diabetes in my family I will also get type 2 diabetes - it's unavoidable. I disagree. I was pre-diabetic 4 years ago before I went Keto, and now my blood sugar is perfect. He doesn't know everything.
  • I just came here for the embarrassing stories ... but there are none.
  • You do you, let him do him. Even in a marriage you have to be your own person. I eat low carb, have done for years. My OH does not. He is also about 15 - 20kg overweight. That's his business IMO. He eats chips and lollies and all kinds of snacks on a daily basis. He has his shelf in the pantry, I have the vege crisper…
  • It was 50g of coconut flour across 12 cookies. Must have been enough to cause problems.
  • Tell that to my G cup. I have lost 87lbs and my boobs are the same size.
  • In my EXPERIENCE doing Keto, I can't eat these bars. Or Quest. They do stall my weightloss (yes, even if I don't eat any more CALORIES for the day). Some people can eat them and stay in Ketosis, and some people metabolise up to half of the sugar alcohol as sugar. I'd say it's probably better to avoid these if you can, but…
  • Ketogenic diet is not a fad or a weight loss miracle - it works because it reduces your hunger and allows many people who have never succeeded before to gain control of their eating and yes, eat less calories. It also has many medical applications, controlling diabetes, inflammation, epilepsy. And as for sticking to it,…
  • I spent 20 years trying to lose weight by reducing calories but still eating whatever. I ended up 40kg heavier than when I started. Less calories = always hungry and I'd only last a few days before I caved and found myself in the McDonalds drivethru buying a couple of big macs. I started over Monday like 1000 times. I've…
  • A high sugar diet directly relates to one's ability to stick to a low calorie diet. I agree that you could eat 1200 calories a day of pure sugar and lose weight however anyone who has yoyo dieted for most of their lives will know that sugar causes insulin spike causes hunger and pretty much guarantees you will fail and eat…
  • I made a keto baked cheesecake for xmas (google new York style keto cheesecake). It was great. Didn't tell the non low carbers it was sugar free and everyone ate it.
  • Keto diet is not "flavour of the month" it's been around for decades - but it is not necessary to lose weight. All you need to lose weight is to eat less calories than your body burns. Ketosis does help you to do that though, as it is a natural appetite suppressant. It's very useful for people who have had trouble with…
  • Move to Australia, we don't let the general public own guns. Our domestic violence situations usually result in a good old fashioned beating and a trip to the hospital.
  • You've lost 11.6lbs in 2 weeks. I'm not sure what the problem is. What do you mean you're at a stand still? Since yesterday or ... A stall is staying the same weight for 4 to 6 weeks, you need to be a bit more patient.
  • Just be careful, low carb low fat will leave you starving. I eat low carb high fat - you have to get your "fuel" from somewhere. If you're low enough carb you'll burn fat instead - and some of this will be your body fat, which is good, but if you're not eating any fat I think you'll find you feel pretty unwell after a…

  • Also weightloss. Some weeks I do all the right things, exercise plenty (netting 900 cals a day) and GAIN weight.
  • I would weight it before you cook it. Cooked rice can vary a lot depending on how long you cooked it for and how much water has been soaked up. Make sure the MFP entry you use says "uncooked".
