I think some people are pretty good at that Robert, and using feedback to adjust, but my sister is right at the beginning of doing this and it's more a case of 'I've been hitting my daily calorie allowance and I'm not losing weight, what am I doing wrong?' and it's pretty clear that her portion sizes and logging are off so…

I'm doing the same thing! Going up to 1600-1700. As long as you stay at or under your TDEE you shouldn't gain any fat, although you might put on some water weight!

No - not unless you ate 24,500 calories since Thursday (which would be extremely impressive). It's likely water retention - exercising heavily, eating high sodium foods, and your monthly cycle can all cause fluctuations in weight so don't get disheartened. Stick to your deficit and remember weight loss isn't linear!

I've done it a few times in the past and it just flat out doesn't work - you regain all the weight you 'lose' as soon as you start eating solid foods again. Plus it makes you miserable and hangry. No bueno.
