  • I have been on a pork kick lately... I do pork tenderloin in the oven with Italian or peri peri spices(80g/serving), baked potatoes(150g/serving+ 1/2tbsp of olive oil in the cooking process), and bbq sauce (1 tbsp). Add a salad with 1 tbsp Caesar dressing and the whole thing comes out to 430 cal and is super filling :)
  • At huge wine tasting event tonight (seriously one of my favorite events of the year!) I'm so excited  They bring in food trucks to the event, so something at one of those (oh, and cheese, and chocolate to go with my wine!) Bring on this epic cheat meal!!
  • Soo... I might have misread one word... my bad :) I retract my argument. Sorry!
  • Could you elaborate how organic food is better for animal welfare? "Just because I said so" doesn't make the argument true (ie. Citations). Environment effects the ecological systems of animals- if the environment impact is the same, then there is no difference to animal welfare I don't think you read my post or if you did…
  • Nothing. Motivation is fleeting, habits are the real deal. I know that sounds harsh, but its the truth. When I have bad days, I focus on the long term habits I want to build or maintain. For me, that means 1 simple thing: if I don't want to eat healthy, go to the gym, eat within my calories etc etc. I make a pact with…
  • Ive struggled with Depression/Anxiety/Binge eating since I was 16.. so I definitely feel you! I found that staying on track with my diet for me has had a lot more to do with working on my mental health then the actual food. If I stop doing my CBT exercises, meditation, or mindful eating, emotional eating takes over!…
  • I'm grateful that the journey to lose that last 10lbs has honed in on my mental issues around food. I know that facing them will help me keep the weight off long term. My affirmation this morning: "I love myself and trust the decisions I will make today".
  • I boil some eggs for breakfast (had with oatmeal), cut up some veggies and prep my weekday lunches (pork tenderloin with baked potato, bbq sauce and salad this week!) I either cook dinner or scrounge for leftovers
  • Actually, this is incorrect.. sorry to burst your organic loving bubble: https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/science-sushi/httpblogsscientificamericancomscience-sushi20110718mythbusting-101-organic-farming-conventional-agriculture/…
  • ^ this, seriously :D Second hand info from "a mom, friend, co worker, your plumber, the guy who knows a guy... etc... etc" should be taken with a LARGE grain of salt... actually, make that a bucket. Unless a doctor tells you otherwise or there is a ground breaking meta analysis (study of studies... because one study does…
  • If you want to keep the weight off long term, you need to eat food you enjoy. But I know what you're going through... growing up I had parents who labeled food as "good" and "bad" and I found myself doing the same for a long time... its really only been the last year that ive started to break away from this. For me, the…
  • Yup, the two days leading up to "that time of the month" nothing fills me up, it doesn't matter how close to my macros I get or what I eat. I keep my giant water bottle filled with water, lemon and Splenda close by on those days.. its like diet lemonade, so it also helps with the sweet cravings I get :)
  • We actively avoid Organic and "Non GMO" foods in our household (opposite of a lot of people.. I know). One reason for this is the fear mongering and non scientific community attacking scientists who come out in defense of non organic food. Organic and non GMO is a marketing ploy (the organic industry is worth 4 billion in…
  • Strong Curves and I love it! After a year maintaining at 137lbs I have dropped down to 130 lbs in 9 weeks, gone down an inch in my booty (38") and waist (26.5 ") :)
  • Do you weigh everything that you eat? Humans are notorious for underestimating the number of calories we actually consume. Vismal has a great post that goes into depth about the concept here: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1296011/calorie-counting-101/p1
  • I also heard that you can lift more weight the first couple of days of your period... maybe because of the increased testosterone?
  • Has anyone else noticed their tolerance has gone down as they lost weight? It use to take me about a bottle of wine to get sloshed, now its only 2-3 5oz glasses... I fit in a glass or two in my weekend calories if I feel like it, just like chocolate or any other food- everything in moderation makes for a happy dieter! :)
  • Me too :( its seriously the worst because other times of the month I can just add in another 100 cal if I'm still hungry, but during the first couple days of my period I feel like I could add in another 2000cal and not even make a dent in my hunger
  • Dairymilk bar with cookie dough in the middle... :p Sadly I didn't buy it and I haven't seen it in any stores since
  • I get a giant diet soda! the movie theatre we go to has the new coke machines where you can add cherry, vanilla, raspberry, and other flavors to your drink! My go to is diet coke with cherry :) If I'm really craving popcorn, or its date night with the boyfriend we often each get a small popcorn as our dinner instead of…
  • Today I had Raisin bran, 1/2 cup 1% milk, protein shake (made with water and 1tbsp baking cocoa since I hate the taste of the protein I bought :'( )
  • I've thought about doing this before.. but I'm just wondering how you track it in MFP? Chickens have white and dark meat with different calories.. not to mention the skin!! What do you do?
  • My parents are both fad dieters.. and never been able to successfully lose weight and keep it off.. I didn't realize how much that effected me until I left home. The first time my mom took me to weight watchers I was 10, the only thing I remember about it was that I was starving all the time and started sneaking food and…
  • Zimbabwe Africa (profile pic taken there) If you could only have Chips or chocolate for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
  • I'm going to say some things that might be unpopular here.. but its what helped me go from 170 lbs to 130lbs in 2 years and keep it off: 1.Habits Habits take 3 weeks up to 52 weeks to form. If you want to make calorie counting, exercise, or anything else a habit you need to stick with it and keep coming back to it when you…
  • I think you'll find very few people who maintain a keto diet for more than a few months. Any diet that restricts types of food is doomed to a high failure rate. Cutting out carbs is not a magic formula that will make you thin all of the sudden. Stay in a healthy (not too low)calorie deficit, exercise, and have patience.…
