  • While I agree that it's not totally accurate (when it comes to running, MFP is usually around 100-200 calories off what my HRM says for a long run, but for Zumba it can be anywhere from 50 to 250 off), I do know that it adapts for weight changes just based on seeing how things changed for me as I logged weekly weight…
  • Okay, I really want to answer your actual question, but I'm a little torn on exactly what you're asking ... If you're asking for substitutes for alcohol in the evenings, I have been switching a lot of my 'bedtime beers' (or wines) during the week for tea, either unsweetened if it's a fruit-based tea, or with just a touch…
  • It's interesting to me that you feel this way (but good for you! I wish I had your perspective!), because I've often been on the exact opposite end of the spectrum. Yes, there's the set, structured routine of it all, which should be helpful, but for me the problem comes from looking around the table at lunch and seeing…
  • I'm in - just added you! I've been needing a motivational boost. I've been in maintenance mode for a couple years now, but recently I hit a 'stress wall' and put on a few pounds thanks to the stress eating that came along with it. I need the accountability to help me stay on track!
  • Thank you! That's what I try to keep focusing on, it just gets hard sometimes, especially when my pants WILL still button, BUT there's some overhang that wasn't there a couple months ago since all my weight any time I gain goes straight to my tummy - a side effect of both my natural body type/genetics and the fact that I…
  • I saw a joke about one guy asking another what Pinterest was, and the second responded, "When your wife spends 8 hours staring at her phone, then you eat salads out of mason jars for a week - that's Pinterest." That's me. I LOVE Pinterest, and almost my entire thing is food-related. (Most of it healthy, some of it…
  • Agreed 100% on this one! And even if you do get the same model, you want to do it sooner rather than later, because even though they're the 'same' shoe, you need time to break them in. Don't do ANYTHING new right before/at the time of a race.
  • Apparently I can't math today (I always tell people I'm an English teacher for a reason), because our challenge ran from the first week back to school in January to spring break, which was late March, so it was definitely more like 10 weeks, or two and a half months. First, please see my above correction. Secondly, the…
  • I'm right there with you as far as 'conflicting advice,' but my husband has always been fit and active and has been a very avid runner for the past several years, so when I start to get confused or overwhelmed, he's usually where the buck stops for me. While every person is different (especially he and I - we have…
  • I do whatever feels right in the moment, like most other people here have alluded to. I will typically run in place or bounce or do SOMETHING just to keep moving, because as many others have said, once I stop it's a lot harder to get going again! But if it's a very long run and a well-placed light, sure, I'll take the…
  • I second this. Sometimes, even when I am importing the ingredients, they come out way off. I always at least skim the list to make sure nothing looks crazy. Any time I try to enter fresh garlic, I end up with something crazy like 800 calories for two cloves of garlic. I just click the 'Replace' button and find another…
  • Oh dear, someone has really been treating you terribly on the biscuit end. Scones are much denser and even drier (and I don't mean that as a bad thing, it's just what it is) than biscuits (should be). A good biscuit should be flaky and full of layers (or at least 'pockets') that you can pull apart.
