I laughed at this because this is SO true for me. no more boylegs 🤦♀️

When I first started this journey, I thought it was about aesthetics, I just wanted to "look" better, but now I know that it has had a far greater impact on my mood, confidence, and mental and physical health than my appearance. That is now a bigger drive and motivation to carry on than simply what I look like.

Thank you! My initial goal was 143lbs. It was the lowest weight I'd ever been as a "near-adult" (age 18) and at 192lbs even that seemed impossible. Once I hit 143lbs, nothing seemed impossible any more. I'd say set mini goals, if that helps with motivation and consistency. Try for 130, then 125, then 120. For me it seemed…

The only recommendation I can make is a lifestyle change. And lots and lots and lots of patience. I had the yo-yo effect so many times over. This is what makes calorie counting a great tool. You can calculate your estimated energy requirements and then plan your meals around those. This way I managed to still incorporate…

Definitely need to improve my sleep, so think this should be my next!

Did the thing...

Ran my first 10k on Saturday.

Congratulations, you have done great! In my personal experience, it took a great while for my mind to catch up! I'd say, and I know it sounds silly, but I'd say, take pictures. More-so, let *other* people photograph you. I had a weird moment with my SIL where I asked her who someone in a photo was and she just looked at me…

I'm still a long way off, but this is roughly 8/9 months consistently lifting (from August 2020, prior to that I inconsistently and randomly did whatever for "exercise").

I might actually finally sorta kind of maybe be semi-fit to attempt to contribute to this thread:

Looking to run 10k one of these days

I'm 5'2... about 121lbs. Waist 25.4" Chest 31.3" High Hip 31.3" Ironically, derrière 35.8" I don't mind weight much now. Focusing on losing body fat and building muscle.

Oh, sure. I mean, the concept is simple enough. There just never seems to be sufficient opportunity for those discussions to progress. People seem to lose interest real fast if you're not naming some "get slim quick" pill or some popular fad diet, or some hectic exercise routine, which is what they seem to expect. Even…

I've had people ask what I do. I reply "I count and track my food" And usually I'm met with a long, confused look, then a laugh, sometimes a "nah, it can't be that simple" or a "you almost had me there".
-
"Oh, you should stop, you're starting to look sickly" "Which diet are you following?" "Can you eat that?" "I can tell you work out" "You look like a whole new person" (This one actually hit me right in the feels, it was an old school mate, who hadn't seen me in years, and knew that I was overweight/obese nearly all my…

I was going to come add this to my earlier blab. Absolutely.

Just my 2 cents.... I am as tall as you. My lowest weight was 50.8kgs. I now weigh 57.5kgs. I do weight training. I unfortunately haven't measured my thighs from the get-go. Since I started measuring the measurement increased by 2.5cm. However, visually, they are certainly more "muscly" now, especially my quads, but they…

I lost 32kgs through diet only. I was much smaller obviously, but still looked "squishy" and "flabby". Then, I started incorporating strength training, and though I gained back roughly 2kgs, I look much firmer and feel much better. My waist circumference initially increased with 1cm only, and remained at that. Other areas,…

I'm a huge fan of prelogging!

That I'd have this weird fascination with seeing and touching and admiring my ribs (I may have been previously convinced they're special things only other people have), that the look of loose skin improved after some months and I look less flappy. That I'd grow to LOVE moving my body. I even run sometimes! That it would…

I have already gained so much! I have gained a better understanding of my body and its needs and capabilities. I have gained support and inspiration and heartfelt advice on this platform. I have gained confidence and self-esteem. I have gained a genuine enjoyment for moving my body. I have gained muscle and strength. So,…

I entered two runs for yesterday. A 5km and a 2.5km, back to back, thus adding up to 7.5km. The farthest I've ever run is 5km. I completed both runs back to back and was only 3 minutes slower overall than my last 5km run time.

I am confident. Yet I am also introverted. I workout at home so as to avoid the gym and people. Introversion and social anxiety does not always show up as a lack of confidence. Also, might this be a case of trying to justify your own indiscretions? It is noticeable that you have ONLY female friends on MFP (Yes, I went to…
