  • I'm a diet soda drinker. I tend to drink a can with my lunch, and MAYBE a second can sometime in the day. It's never impacted my weight loss.
  • For me:* Pre-log. * No liquid calories Mon-Fri. * Determine what I'm going to eat before I get to the restaurant if eating out (check menus for calories online). * As much as possible, pre-prepare meals.
  • I think it depends on how your weight goes away. In my case, I lost 35 pounds, but only lost about 2 inches - if that - around my waist. For me the scale is a clear and visible example of my progress.
  • I shoot for the 1800-2000 range.

  • Here's how I do it, generally speaking. Works for me anyway. For me, maintenance is roughly 3,000 calories, give or take a few. M-F, I am at about 1800 calories. Saturday/Sunday I relax a little, but still stay under maintenance. I'll hit 2100 one day, maybe 2400-2500 the next. I still track, but with my young kids, we…
  • I'm a teacher, so it isn't really office work, but close enough. I tend to cycle between:* Deli meat sandwiches with cheese on healthy white bread. * Tuna sandwich. * Salads (I make sure to throw some chicken or something in there. * Occasionally a lean cuisine/smart ones. * Some leftovers (soup - I know, chili, etc.) *…
  • I'm a teacher. Today's the first day back to school for students so I've not seen them in close to 3 weeks. No less than six students said I look thinner.
  • I think I did win the fight! I remember once when the girls were much younger. The twins were 6 and their little sister just turned four. The little one came and asked for a wooden spoon. "What do you need it for?" I asked. She rolled her eyes at me and said, "There are two of them!"
  • I've lost about 35, down from right at 300. A few people have noticed, but I think it has to WHERE the weight is falling off. In my case. I've not lost much in the gut (it's only starting to come off there), so the couple of comments I've received have been about my pants not quite looking right.
  • Not really. I did usually cover my breakfast - generally just some fruit purchased from a local grocery store in the area. Otherwise, I tried to be fairly judicious about what I ate without going too nuts over it. I do think the habit I've gotten into the last couple of months helped quite a bit.
  • I teach, so I'm basically on my feet walking around the room a big part of the school day - probably 6+ hours.
  • I'm a high school teacher. A few weeks ago at the gym I saw one of my students. He's a nice enough fellow, but struggles - well, I can't say that because he's done nothing - academically. In my class, he'd never submitted an assignment. We start running into each other at the gym and next thing you know, we're working out…
  • I go more by a flexible calorie plan. I know what my maintenance weight calorie level is and I ALWAYS stay a good bit under it. I have my daily calorie goal except that one day a week, I add a little to it - still staying well under my BMR. That allows me to not sweat a trip to McDonald's or the Pizza Place with my…
  • For me:* Jog/run 30 minutes or so 3-4 times per week. * Weights 3 times per week My weight program is fairly limited to what's available in my apartment's weight room, but I have a good dumbbell routine coupled with the machines the apartment has. Takes me about 40 minutes to go through it. Thinking about joining a gym to…
  • For me, the solution was finding a sport or two I really enjoyed. As I did more fencing, I wanted to get better at it and that required additional training beyond the fencing class. It had a greater purposed than working out for fitness and/or weight loss (which seems weird, but oh well). Now, in the interim, I've…
  • I weighed 300 pounds when I adopted three beautiful girls. My weight is steading coming off and the girls are growing up like weeds.
  • I have three daughters who are Girl Scouts and are selling cookies. I am a school teacher (high school) and have BOXES and BOXES of cookies at school I'm selling for my daughters (and they are flying off the shelves). My NSV? I've not eaten a single Girl Scout cookie this round.
  • For me, it was an adjustment to my eating schedule. I'm a teacher so I get up at 5, have to be in the hall at 6:40 and have students 7-2. My lunch break is 10:30. I'm not usually hungry when I wake up. So now, I sometimes have something small around 8 or 8:30 if I get hungry. And by this I mean an apple or something. I…
  • I'm a high school teacher. So far, I've lost 27 pounds, down from 297 peak. Walking down the hall, a student I had last year walked up to me today and said, "I don't want you thinking I'm checking you out, but I swear you're shrinking!" Best compliment I've received.
  • For me, it was less about what I saw in the mirror. I remember going to JC Penny to buy a pair of pants one day. I was about 30 pounds down but couldn't "see" it. I went to the big & tall (though I really needed the short & fat) section and nothing fit. Suddenly, I'm back in the "regular size" section buying pants there!…
  • I did couch 2 5K. It was odd, at the end of eight weeks, I was STILL 275 lbs and running 30 minutes or more several days per week. It did take an adjustment in what I ate - eliminating fast food and such - before the weight came off. However, there were improvements in other areas. I did feel better and more energetic on…
