  • Just to clarify, my doctor didn't tell me what I should weigh. I did weight watchers a few years ago and they said I should weigh between 140 and 145 for my height. The last time I went to my doc I told him I wanted to lose weight but that that goal seemed impossible for my frame. He said that it was a totally attainable…
  • This was wonderfully motivating. Thank you for sharing your journey and insights. You're lucky you have a doctor who considered your diet rather than suggesting surgery or medication. I had my gallbladder taken out 8 years ago and there was really no alternatives presented to me other than surgery. Next I went through two…
  • I try to eat 1650 calories a day. I consistently eat 250 for breakfast (two hard boiled eggs and coffee with milk) then I usually have a 400 calorie lunch (a sandwich or pita and humus). That leaves me 1000 for dinner. I find that I have to eat dinner earlier in the day for this to work out. I used to eat dinner at 8 but…
  • Bum bum bum bump
  • I don't know how to post a link to an older post but I started one in the past that has lots of before and afters for your height. The title is something like "women 5'8 - 5'9" Hope that helps.
  • I second weight lifting! I've never liked my thighs as much as I do now after 3 months of strong lifts 5x5. I still have some cellulite but the general shape looks so much better that I have to concentrate to find the bumps.
  • I noticed a nice butt in the mirror at the gym and turned around to realize it was the reflection of my own butt in another mirror! Best feeling ever!
  • [quote="ryanndavignon;37666037" [/quote] Wow! I can see a big difference in your stomach and arms. Keep it up!
  • I got down to 152 and then had three very stressful weeks where I was overeating by 500 calories a day and went up to 156. Five days ago I realized that I either had to give up or recommit. I recommited and it was super hard (harder than the first week I started on this program) but now I'm down to 154 again. I know these…
  • Somebody please pick my jaw up off the floor. That's incredible. I love that you just had the sudden urge to run and followed your instincts. I think it's all about finding an activity that makes you feel good. I always wanted to enjoy running but it just makes me feel more drained. I've given it up for power lifting which…
  • Thanks for being a organ donor! It makes a huge difference :)
  • Help! I was doing really well for 60 days and then as soon as I got to my "mental block" weight 152 everything got so much harder. I don't know why it's so hard for me to get below this stupid number. I've had so many social commitments lately that involve food and even though I plan for this all day I keep going over. I…
  • Double check with your doctor but I love stronglifts 5x5 and there's no impact in my ankle.
  • My husband had moobs when I first met him. He was only about 10 pounds overweight but for some reason the weight went there. Even as he lost weight, they didn't really go away. What made the biggest difference was bench presses and pull ups. I think he was afraid to develop his chest because he thought it would make the…
  • Great work! Way to go in getting the body you want in more ways than one :) My brother's a transguy and I know it's not easy to control your weight with the hormone changes. Keep it up!
  • I have a feeling this video link is not going to work but I might as well try. Here it is. Upon watching this I realize that I'm not going low enough. I've never been sure if my torso is bending forward too much. I've been having a lot of soreness between my shoulder blades. I almost never feel sore in my butt or thighs…
  • You look stunning! Congratulations! Please post some wedding pics in this thread :) My husband and I wear our wedding outfits every year on our anniversary and dance to our first song. Besides for being romantic, it's a great way to check my weight each year. I'm hoping it will be loose the next time I put it on!
  • I used to work for a chiropractor so I definitely agree with you there :) Thanks for all the tips!
  • Correction: you took 47 steps forward and 7 steps back. You are now 40 steps ahead and that's a huge deal! Yes it's going to take longer than you think but that's no excuse to ignore all the hard work you did.
  • I'm starting my 7th week of stronglifts. I'm so glad I found this program. I've never enjoyed working out so much in my life (okay the first two weeks I was in agony but then I started really enjoying it). I'm sleeping better and I have more energy after my work outs. My TDEE is 1950 and I'm eating an average of 1700…
  • Holy cow! You have my dream body. It's strange because I'm only a pound or two heavier but I look nothing like you. I have to keep lifting weights :)
  • Don't give up! I'm averaging 1700 calories a day and I'm losing an average of a pound a week. Some weeks I gain a few pounds, some weeks I lose a few pounds but the average is a 1 pound loss. You have to give it time and you have to allow for some fluctuations in your weight. So many factors can affect the number on your…
  • I left WW for Lose It and then MFP. At first, I had trouble with the transition (I missed the group meetings and weekly weigh-ins). It really helped me to make friends on MFP, read the discussion boards and post progress photos. Once I started using all the features of MFP I found it more helpful than WW. Good luck with…
  • In high school, it took all my energy to lose 30 pounds and get to my goal weight of 145 (I'm 5'9"). I was miserable and I completely pulled away from all of my friends because I couldn't be around them eating all the time. My mom's friend looked at my and said, "you just need to lose another 30 pounds and then you'll be…
  • Another stupid question: Assuming you don't end up with loose skin, where does the mass of skin go? I keep hearing about skin's elasticity, but that doesn't seem to account for major size shifts. Does your body make fewer skin cells? What's happening to the skin on a molecular level? I watched a Ted talk that explained…
  • You've done it before you can do it again! We're rooting for you :)
  • Someone told me I would one day miss the doms and I thought she was crazy. But she was right. I've read enough to know that a lack of doms doesn't mean that I had an easy workout but it still didn't feel like I did enough when I wake up feeling fine. Your doms will ease up in time (took me about two weeks). Drink lots of…

  • @Atchmon thanks for the reddit suggestion! I could spend all day looking through these before and afters. Such great motivation!
  • @stelloian incredible progress since your last post! Way to go!
  • Update: I'm now 6 weeks in. This is the slowest I've ever lost weight but it's also the first time I'm doing a serious weightlifting routine. I'm about 6 lbs down. I've gone from barely being able to squat 45 pounds to squatting 110lbs and I'm deadlifting 130 lbs! I've never been this strong in my whole life. I'm really…
