Can anyone offer any help/advice ? I suffered a broken ankle and have endured 2 operations to fix this . I now have cartilage damage in my ankle which is irreversible . Am wanting to start some kind of exercise routine but quite anxious about any kind of cardio that could cause further problems with my ankle ............

To put things in perspective I've had a double hip replacement and an arthritic knee. Best thing to do is talk to your orthopedist and physical therapist. They'll be able to recommend something for you.

Without knowing the extent of your damage and if you don't want to do something that involves the legs, swimming is a great alternative as a cardio workout.

Double check with your doctor but I love stronglifts 5x5 and there's no impact in my ankle.

Check with your doctor, but swimming may work well for you.

I love the Kettlebell. Both aerobic and strength training. Burns 20 calories a minute instead of the average 8. Because of the after burn of strength training.

I do the five weeks basic kettle bell swing program from strong first.

Here are a couple of videos that show correct form.

Pavel Tsatsouline Author and coach of Olympic athletes wrote the book simple and sinister. He states that you can do kettle bell swings's every day unless you don't want to. Also you will burn approximately 20 cal per minute because it is a HI IT work out combined with strength building. You will get the muscle after burn. Make sure you take your measurements!
