  • That's what we're all hoping for. I understand that the level of success goes up whenever you have "friends" to motivate you. I'll make a FR to you if you like AND if you are happy to give me a push from time to time? In any event "GOOD LUCK".
  • I'm very happy to help "motivate" you if you like, I too need the occasional kick up the backside if you don't mind helping me out when I loose my way? Good luck...you've got this if you really want it.
  • Welcome back, often it's the "friends" who keep you on the path to success...I'm happy to add you if you like and if you're happy to help me as and when?
  • That doesn't sound good. I would be happy to help (if you'll do the same for me) because I'm most interested in understanding what's going on and even more interested to see if I can help "smooth out the bumps a bit"...
  • It only works if you are true to yourself (and don't forget) by logging everything you eat & drink...that's why it's so hard to do...but it is worth it AND there are plenty of people in the same boat who will be happy to help inspire, chide and congratulate you...if you want. Happy to help if you like...just click my name…
  • I have a similar setup but all seems fine. Have the issues you mention gone away (it's been some time since you posted this I see) or do they persist?
  • Have you looked at Garmin Connect? I have a similar desire to you and whilst I have yet to find a single elegant solution, the combination of iPhone (acting as middle-man), with a my Pebble & Garmin Edge all tied to MFP work well to give me:- 1) BMR - where Basic Metabolic Rate is the rate at which my body burns calories…
  • Yes...in Misfit App, select Me, then settings (cog top right), then select Apps. Now scroll to MyFitnessPal & connect. Ok...that's the Misfit App sorted, after a few minutes or so go to MFP "More" menu (••• bottom right) scroll to Steps & select Misfit. Good luck.
  • Welcome & good luck. I have read that whilst it is essential to weigh & measure all food and drink in order to get anything useful from this site, the real recipe for success is to have a community of "friends" to offer support, occasional admonishment and a moral obsticle to "snacking". So with this in mind, I'd be happy…
  • Not quite in the vain of "advice for someone new" but I hope interesting too is the link below to answer the question:- Where does the weight we lose go? YouTube Video Would love to know how you get on with the FitBit.
  • Happy to help & be helped.
  • Happy to...in fact just did. I'm trying to lose 20 lbs too and this is my first time 1) on a site like this & 2) on a calorie controlled diet. That said I suspect the addition of exercise and a better understanding of what I'm eating is what will really lead to any success. I'm any event, welcome & good luck.
  • I really don't want to upset anything so please do not read on if you are now 100% sure you want to go ahead. In any event I onlyhave the experience of one friend who underwent such drastic surgery and whilst it was great for the first 5-10 years...sadly it's not a long term solution (well not for him) and a change in…
  • Depends on what you "invest" into it. If you are prepared to note down everything you eat & drink as well as any and all exercise...then yes it's useful. If, on the other hand, you really want it to "sing", then adding a few friends to help motivate you makes it awesome. Of course, all the above assumes you want to improve…
  • Did you mean "Where are all the Indiana and Kentucky people???" ;)
  • Happy to if you don't mind me commenting on your diary? I'm doing the same (but not on MFP) for my daughter and she's watching me, so I'm happy to help if you like?
  • Happy to help...and be helped
  • Totally agree so thanks for 1) the offer of additional support and 2) the insights of your gym friend...very helpful.
  • Thank you for your kind thoughts & wishes. It's all going swimmingly at the moment...after Wednesday who knows?
  • Sounds like you know what you're doing. Love to help and would appreciate reciprocal arrangement...just not sure how to set that up?
  • Thanks for the support. I will take your advice and cross one bridge at a time.
  • You've hit the proverbial nail on the head and with that desire to find your "balance" comes success. Davis_em has given you a superb "path to follow", one he knows can work. Why not start there...give nothing up but let nothing escape your attention. Let's face it if you truly enjoy the food why not give it the honour of…
  • Every night before bed and every morning as you wake, remind yourself of those dreams. Perhaps a chore for the first week or two but soon second nature and as sure as day follows night...the lbs will drop off. Add me if you feel you want the occasional "push".
  • Perhaps you need a little "help" on your journey back to becoming the real you? Happy to add you and help if you like but you may not like the help as "the door to success says push"!
  • So far so good but I think the guy falling from the Empire State Building said the same at about the 100th floor!
  • Hello Jessebabwah, I hope your second brush with cancer is well and truly behind you by now and you have made a full return to health? Sadly I find myself in a similar situation (also had it twice now and start chemotherapy next week) and so wondered if you wouldn't mind sharing any insights you've gained in terms of what…
  • Hello Emma-Louise, Firstly I very much hope you are making a full & speedy return to health and that you have found the answer(s) to your question. On a somewhat selfish note, I too am about to undergo chemotherapy and am therefore very interested to know if there are any insights you may care to share that you have found…
  • Hello Kaylatremblett, I hope you have, by now, returned to full health. Sadly I find myself in a similar situation although yet to commence my chemotherapy and so read your post with interest. I wonder if I may ask if you have found any "strategies" that work for you or, indeed, things to avoid? By the way, if you've ever…
  • Hello Kelbellynn, If you've ever wondered where the weight goes when one looses it, which I did; partly out of interest but mainly to see if I could use said knowledge to influence my own weight, then you will learn much from this: Ted Talk - Math of weight loss Hope this helps you...it certainly did me. Kind regards,…
  • Hi Emma, I read with interest your post, finding myself in a similar position and not looking forward to the impact of my upcoming chemotherapy. To begin I want to wish you a full and speedy recovery and hope, very much, this has taken place in the intervening weeks and you have made a full return to health? In addition…
