  • Well adding more calorie dense foods to your diet, like peanut butter, seeds, oils, ect, will help you achieve your calorie goal without adding so much volume. You can hit your protein goal with your meats, nuts, supplements, ect.
  • Ummm, not true in regards to your statement about needing carbs for muscle gain. Carbs don't actually play a role in protein synthesis, the most critical component of building muscle. I’m not saying carbs can't play a huge role in building muscle because they can/do in a way, but they don’t play a role in muscle-protein…
  • Look up The Rapid Fat Loss Handbook Book by Lyle McDonald. I'm not saying that you will feel awesome, because you won't. And any weight that you do lose, will be short lived once you start eating differently from the layout Lyle gives. Anyway, if it's the number on the scale that is bothering you so much, that's the best…
  • For me, it isn't about motivation. It's habitual. It's waking up everyday and making a decision, making decisions throughout the day that aid me in reaching my goal. Positive affirmations, if you will.
  • Exactly! You wouldn't be in ketosis doing that. High levels of protein causes the body to produce insulin. Plus, protein isn't a good source for sustained energy, so I wouldn't use that as my main intake. Sounds like you are doing more of the Atkins diet, although that tends to be high fat and high protein.

  • This! Regardless of what diet you follow, for weight loss, you would be in a deficit to achieve that.
  • You can't spot reduce without surgery. Keep losing weight, body fat will decrease and your stomach area will get smaller.

  • You are already having success doing what you are doing. Weight loss isn't linear anyway. Also, I couldn't imagine sticking myself with an injection everyday when it isn't necessary. I can't even believe, that just with the side effects and risks involved, that anyone would want to try this medication. If you stall, look…

  • Nope. Looks dumb. Has so many variables and looks super calorie restrictive. I'm not saying one couldn't lose weight on a crash diet like that, but it wouldn't be sustainable weight-loss after the fact. Just create a reasonable calorie deficit and you will lose weight and learn how to provide adequate nutrition for your…
  • If you can invest in a pressure cooker, it will save you so much time. I can cook a whole chicken, depending on size, in under 20 min. Fresh veggies cook fast, so while that's cooking, you can roast veggies, pan sear them, boil them, microwave them or make a salad.
  • @kschorns Research! Is it sustainable to you? Long term? Could you remain consistent? I understand the factor of losing weight using the keto method, but please do your research and understand how to properly do it, why and what this "diet" was developed for and why it could/is beneficial for YOU. All it takes is a calorie…
  • Do what you feel would best benefit you and your lifestyle choices/goals. Most seem to like 30% protein, 40% carbs and 30% fat.
  • I add feta or goat cheese and mint to mine when going for a more "greek" recipe, along with garlic and onion. I also use a higher fat ratio ground beef or use a combination of ground beef and sausage.
  • Much better. I would also recommend you paying attention to your breathing technique. Big breath in, brace your core, breathe out when coming up. Repeat. I can't really tell in the video or hear you, but it almost looks like you are holding your breath.
  • I would just like to add to this by telling you why you need to take in adequate sodium. Once you change your metabolic process going "keto", your body can no longer store sodium (glucose is a staple for sodium storage in the body) and gets flushed by the kidneys. Drink plenty of water and also take in the other 2…
  • Certainly see your doctor. I will say this, I have seen more patients whom have stopped smoking developing chest pain and difficulty breathing soon after they have stopped the habit, than I can count. It soon stopped once the body equipped to the change. Again, certainly reach out to your PCP. Good luck!
  • Cook with, add or use high quality oils, peanut butter, nuts and seeds are all ideas for calorie dense foods to add to your day. A handful of almonds never made me full.
  • I would certainly pay attention to your calorie intake so that you are still in a deficit. You can go into the Goals section and under Nutrition Goals you would select the Calories & Macronutrient goals. You can customized the percentages to your desire. Normally keto macro's are 75% fat, 20% protein and 5% carbs.
  • I am doing Keto, but not for long term. I am using it to cut. However, I will say this: the first initial weight loss is going to be more "water weight". This is due to depleted glycogen in the body and lack of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates also hold 2x's their weight in water. Naturally when someone restricts calories,…
  • Dang. Hate you said that you "don't want to look like a man". You can't, at least not without surgery or hormone help. I don't want women to be scared of weight training/heavy lifting, ect. And StongLifts is still a great program. Here is a link that gives great information. Take a look.…
  • Exactly! Me too!
  • Agree. It can actually cause fatigue or over extension, depending on what the assessed goal is before the workout even begins. Again, it's subjective for personal like. So if you like it and want to do it, then do it!
  • No it isn't.
  • It's subjective, like any other lifestyle. Research well and from reputable sources. Nothing is a "quick fix" so if that is the reason behind trying Keto, then you would not be invested for the right reasons. I know people who do well on this type of lifestyle, just like I know people who do well on others.
  • Jay Cutler is an asskitten :D
  • Lots of factors come into play. Individual humans are different in body size, function and health, therefore, of course a larger person contains more cells than the smaller person. Now, the type of pound of food you consume would make a difference for a next day weigh-in, which is what you are asking...I am assuming…
  • I think this falls more into the Keto bracket rather than the Atkins because the type of fat you would be eating/whats promoted. Nevertheless, interesting article.
