Fans of Atkins will find this particularly interesting.

Yes, it mentions endocannabinoids, which might make some fear the article's about marijuana, but it isn't.
"Endo" means "internal"; cannabinoids were first discovered in cannabis (marijuana), followed by the discovery of the receptors in the body that cannabinoids interact with.
Since the receptors exist, there must also be similar molecules natural to the body that normally use those receptors to regulate routine activities of the body.
When researchers found these molecules that land on the receptors--the rightful users of the cannabinoid receptors--they named the category 'endocannabinoids' because of their biological resemblance to the cannabinoids first identified in pot.
This probably also has some pertinence to 'the munchies' associated with pot use.

I think this falls more into the Keto bracket rather than the Atkins because the type of fat you would be eating/whats promoted. Nevertheless, interesting article.1 -

It absolutely does. There was a drug years back called Rimonabant that caused the opposite of the munchies by blocking the receptors for ECBs. It was amazing at suppressing hunger. Unfortunately it caused severe depression and suicidal tendencies as well. It was literally the polar opposite of weed. Made you not hungry, and unfathomably unhappy.1 -
Not something I've ever read about before. Interesting. Thanks for sharing it.0
