How do you make MFP work for your Keto diet? What all do you track? Should I ignore my calorie goal that MFP created and focus on the fat, protein, and carb percentages instead?

I'm wondering the same thing! Just started keto yesterday, and I tried to plug in my macros but had the same issue as you... I just made a note with my suggested macros and refer to that throughout the day.1

Hello keto friends! Firstly great job making the choice to try the keto lifestyle. I've been doing it for 355 days now (thanks MFP for keeping count) and have lost about 60lbs (so far), I am so thankful I found this plan and yell it from the rooftops for anyone who asks.
To your questions about making MFP work for the diet. What I did (on my phone app) was go into the goals section and under Nutrition Goals, select the Calories & Macronutrient goals. From there I customized my percentages to adhere to the keto plan. I am restricting my cals so my daily goal is 1,440 (supervised by a dietitian), then 10% carbs, 25% protein and 65% fat. While this might yield varying results as it relates to actual grams of carb/protein/fats (maybe slightly under 50 net grams) it is a good way to keep yourself in check.

Definitely don't ignore the calorie goal if you are trying to lose weight - you can eat to certain percentages but still eat too many calories which will just cause weight gain. You can change your percentages to suit your goals and it'll show you grams of each macro.1 -
I would certainly pay attention to your calorie intake so that you are still in a deficit. You can go into the Goals section and under Nutrition Goals you would select the Calories & Macronutrient goals. You can customized the percentages to your desire. Normally keto macro's are 75% fat, 20% protein and 5% carbs.1

You still need to have a calorie deficit to lose weight while ketogenic. Some people just find they don't need to count calories because their appetite is diminished.

Most keto'ers keep carbs under 50g. Many will start lower, especially if they have insulin resistance issues or are not active. I stated at about 20g, which was about 5%. Protein is usually kept moderate, somewhere between 20-30% for most but some go lower or higher. Fat is the rest.
