Nearly 3 years and 135 lbs later.

It's been awhile since this thread has been active. So, to keep you updated I've gained a bit of weight in the last year. In a good way, putting on about 10 lbs of muscle.

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, it's one that my daughter and I try to make the most of. After 4 years, I'm living a lifelong dream of owning a custom made Superman costume. That's me as Jor-el in 2012.

I would recommend a serious cardio routine plus diet to drop the weight while building up on strength training. I dropped 135 lbs that way.
-
After my initial loss of 137 pounds I began a regular conditioning regime of 3 days of cardio and 3 days of strength training. I've put on 10 lbs of muscle in the past year.

Never deny yourself. Just find a way to fit it in to your daily calories. If it means a little more cardio and maybe cutting something else, go for it. Cravings aren't detrimental, but if you try to be pious about your diet eventually the cravings will be too much. Moderation is the key, so occasional indulgences are fine.

Six days a week. 100 push ups, 40 sit ups, 60 jumping jacks. I lift weights for an hour 2 days a week. I do 25 minutes of cross training 1 day a week and I run 5-6 miles a day four days a week.

I was a 46, now I'm a 31.

So this is a rather pic heavy post but I wanted to show how my gradual transformation took place. When I began in 2014 I was close to 330 lbs. I'd played football in high school and occasionally studied martial arts but I'd been sedentary for a long time. I started slowly, with walking a mile a day, eventually getting up…

I ran six miles in 57 minutes.

I agree with ElizabethOakes2. The best way to deal with your sweet tooth is to allow yourself a little bit each day and work it into your calories. Denial only increases your cravings, so if you absolutely want that cupcake, eat half the cupcake. Then move, take a walk, run, go dancing, whatever. You'll stick to your diet…
-
Cutting calories by 3-500 per day and increasing your cardiovascular activity are the only way to lose weight.
-
I prefer to eat what I want in moderation than have a "cheat day". Who am I cheating on? Me? No, moderation works better than "cheat days". That way, you're not constantly depriving yourself in hopes of a "reward" at the end of the week like some trained circus seal.

If you're going to travel all the way to Cardiff... Lol. We went to the Doctor Who Experience.

I've had one of two instances of people asking me if I had surgery, then I explain to them that I run 10k six days a week and exercise almost daily. I cut the portions, indulge occasionally so that I don't get stuck in a rut and just have fun. It boggles their minds, especially the people who've known me a very long time.

It's going to take time. I still have quite a bit of loose skin and it's slowly regaining its former tautness.
-
Thank you!
-
It can be a little jarring. There are friends of mine who, while I've been very public about my journey online, are still taken by surprise when they see me in person.
