  • As I mentioned earlier today in another chat - I don't lie in my food diary.. I just don't input on days when I have no idea how many calories I'm consuming by eating in restaurants or home made meals while visiting friends and family. I can't exactly walk up to the chef and ask "how much butter and oil did you put into…
  • I forgot to add - "others are ok to skip one day a week as long as they are still reaching their goals". Would be a shame to put a lot of effort 6 days a week only to undo everything on day #7. Perhaps track 7 days a week for 1 month and then 6 days a week in the 2nd month - and see if your results are same.
  • I started on the weight loss journey exactly a month ago and I can tell that I won't be able to track calories every day.. there are days when I'm out all day and there is just no way to measure or estimate the amount of calories in something which I buy already prepared.. How do I estimate the amount of calories in a bowl…
  • I'm 5'7 and currently at 170 lbs.. size 10. When I was at 155 lbs I was size 8 and at 135 I was size 4-6 (that was 10 years ago). I have pretty big hips unfortunately :( Right now my waist is 30 inches while my hips are 42 inches. So I'm 34-30-42. Not easy to shop for dresses unless A line. For comparison - a friend of…
  • The following is somewhat off topic but an interesting observation... I live in Vancouver, Canada and there is A LOT of social pressure to be thin/normal and physically active. I'm 39, 5'7 and 172 lbs (spread proportionately - my stomachs is almost completely flat) - and I feel VERY BIG when I attend a party or a social…
  • Great thread! I'm 5'7 and 172 lbs currently but my goal weight is between 133-137. Look forward to being 135 lbs again (that's how much I weighed in June 2006 :) ). Hope I can maintain that on not less than 1700 net calories ( currently on 1300 and it's hard).
  • I've seen a few random episodes of this show in the past.. I actually have a different take on it although most of you will disagree with me. Here are some stats: "In the USA more than one-third (35.7 percent) of adults are considered to be obese. More than 1 in 20 (6.3 percent) have extreme obesity." I think in some way…
  • Thank you everyone for input, very interesting.
  • Pardon me being so forward but if you are a 6'2 guy - a goal of 160 lbs sounds very skinny, no? My ex was 6'2 and weighed 215 lbs and looked gorgeous.
  • She is 9 years younger... but she's always been very slim, totally different "built" from mine.
  • I tried this fasting routine and although I was losing weight on it - I gained all and more back when I went back to eating normally.

  • akf, thanks for sharing - interesting story.
  • Again, when I say " So I know that her overall caloric intake is much higher than her expenditure"... I mean I know that her overall caloric intake is high.. but I guess when a "normal" woman burns 10 calories doing activity X - she must be burning like 30 calories doing the same.
  • I eat all of my exercise calories... I set my goal as 1300 but if I burn 400 - I eat 1700 that day. I started my program 2 weeks ago - so I'll see if it works for me. I'd like to lose 1lbs of fat per week. In the past, I used to go on crash diets and would lose the weight, however as soon as I would start eating normally…
  • Truly amazing! Your hard work paid off. No wonder you look so happy in the "after" photo :)
  • Hi Luvee, I just signed up for MFP today myself. I'm a 38 year old female, 5'7 and 169 lbs. My goal weight is 135 lbs so I have a long way to go. Want to do it the "right way" .. about 1.5 lbs per week. What are your goals?
