  • It's so funny, I was pretty lean a few years ago and as much as I loved it, looking back, it kinda sucked. I didn't do/eat anything fun, I was freezing all the time, I was tired, had dark circles under my eyes, and was pale. Now sitting around 21-23% BF, higher weight than ever (130 at 5'3), thicker hair, better…
  • I'm not currently practicing but I was doing holistic nutrition for a while, and I would recommend a nutritionist (obviously lol). If they're certified and insured, they have a good education. It sounds like you have tons of good questions! Same as people said, you could sit on Google and find the answers to your questions…
  • I haven't seen any conclusive evidence on weight loss, but some women that workout at the gym I work at swear it helps reduce DOMS or helps them if they're sore... might increase lymphatic circulation and circulation in general... there may be some benefits but I can't see weight loss being one.
  • Whatever you like! Circuits are fun to do, just make sure you're not hogging a bunch of weights to do a circuit if it's busy!
  • Yes!! I do so well all week then blow it all on the weekend. And it's not that I'm a heavy drinker! Even 3 beer will put me over. Frustrating
  • Each has benefits. Free weights recruit other muscles and work those a bit too, and machines hone in on the muscle you want to work to hit it hard. A mix would probably be beneficial!
  • Updated my phone and it still keeps happening! Grr!
  • Muscle weighs more than fat too, so when you cease working out and aren't sustaining or building that muscle, the mass you lose might account for it. Not sure your body composition or anything obviously, just stating.
  • Yep! I feel less bloated when I decrease my carbs, but a bit of bloat is worth it in my opinion!
  • My daily activity is set lower since I don't always take my dog out, so when I do, I track it!
  • Tell me if you get bulky. I've been working out and training for 4 years and have yet to "bulk". I'm 100% confident you won't. Eat well, nourish your body, get enough sleep and water and resistance train.
  • Magnum Nutracueticals makes one called Quattro, 4 kinds of protein and and 2 or less grams of carbs, 30 grams of protein.
  • Thanks!
  • If you're having negative effects from eating lower calories, I wouldn't even think it's a question. A flat stomach isn't worth feeling crummy.
  • I keep my activity as "lightly active" and include my daily house puttering/running around the gym/training in that. If I do something above and beyond my normal daily moving (workout, heavy mopping/floor to ceiling cleaning), then I log that separate. I'd just up your activity level, then log anything additional (jogging,…
  • Misfit Ray, looks really pretty, is pretty basic (sleep, steps, reminds you to move, call/text notification) but it's all I need, I'm not interested in delving into every little fitness detail! I mostly just want to make sure I take enough steps! Syncs with MFP as well.
  • Not overweight and pretty healthy, just kind of lazy haha. I walk my dog usually every day, weather permitting (it's -30 Celsius right now), so I think I'll just keep that my dominant form of cardio. Thanks for the input! I like hearing different perspectives.
  • I LOVE a regular at Tim Horton's (1 cream, 1 sugar, but their version of "1" is ridiculous!) but now I've started going to the gas station and putting in about 1-2 oz of a flavor (french vanilla, cappuccino, mocha, etc) in 12 or 16 oz, and it ends up being around 40 calories. I'm not ready to give up coffee!
  • Exercises you can do for those muscle groups... lunges, squats, leg press, leg curl, leg extension, etc.
  • Weights plus cardio are SO much more beneficial than cardio alone! Builds muscles = muscles burn more calories at rest than fat = you're burning more calories throughout the day, even at rest! WOO! Plus, I love being able to keep up with the guys ;) lift big, girl!
  • I came here ready to blast you, not gonna lie, glad I was pleasantly mislead! Well played!
  • Alberta, woop!
  • @tracefan Better Stevia has an English Toffee flavor of Stevia, which I started drinking in my coffee and I LOVE! 0 calories, all natural, and you only need 2-4 drops so it lasts a long time!
  • @thorsmom01 I don't have a clue, I haven't been tracking over Christmas and the last couple days. I'm going to say no though, hasn't been the best diet!
  • Rebounding is awesome! Love my little trampoline! Super good for your lymphatic system as well, helps keep everything moving. There's TONS of YouTube videos.
  • I take amino acids in the morning before I workout... I usually workout on an empty stomach, so it helps gives me a bit of energy, I just can't eat before I go to the gym. I also take fish oils, probiotics and garlic capsules, just for general health. I will use a protein powder if I'm rushed or can't eat a full meal after…
  • Body weight, then went to barbell, now I do the barbell plus 10 lbs on each side. I can't squat much. But I do a bunch of different kinds. Goblet, sumo, front, back, jump squats, and mix it up.
  • Just make sure your form is correct with the smith machine. I watch lots of people line their feet up under their body for squats, which puts your knees over your toes and isn't as safe. You have to put your feet forward of your body, which feels awkward, but evens out when you go down into the squat. Just how the smith…
  • I agree with everything posted! I also think that sometimes, you just get bored of your current routine. I've had that happen a couple times, where I took a few days/a week off, then got back into it in a different routine and felt re energized!
  • Thank you for all the responses and confirming I was overthinking it! ;) I will continue to drink my tap water carefree!
