I'm glad for you as a human being that keto is working for you. However, let's be fair here. Yeah, the message may have been about "low fat, high carb, calorie restricted diets for the past 50-years" and people have been getting fatter, but have they got fat while following that advice?
-
Agreed. How are the people who don't win this challenge going to feel at the end of it?
-
Agreed, but if I'm reading right, he weighed, visited the toilet, and weighed again in a row. If the scales are working and that's what he did, I'd expect him to either be the same weight (because it was too small a change to register) or to be a little bit lighter.
-
You weighed more after going to the toilet? Any possibility the scales are faulty? I'd get some heavy things, close in weight, but of different weights, and do a bit of testing on the scales.

Yes, that must be a lot frustrating. The water thing is like everything else though- if it's an insight you've only recently realised about yourself, you mention it to others! On the plus side, you've been useful to me? My sensory mismatches are many and legendary, and I'm wondering if I could be doing that myself. I…

I think it's recommended because so many people have realised they have slight interoception issues (even if they don't know it's called that!) For example, for me, having a drink sometimes does help, if I'm just feeling a slight 'emptiness' because I'm bored. I suspect that's because I may get my thirst and hunger signals…

Hello! I'd like to tell you that coordination comes with time, but that would be a lie. It only comes with practice and lots of it!
-
Because lifestyle changes only improve your health if you pair it with public self-abasement for having been fat. If you feel happy about yourself while you do it, the changes won't work. Fact.
-
There are worse choices to deal with stress. Personally, I'm not beating myself up ever about putting on weight while I was dealing with bereavement and dealing with the estate or the creditors. I didn't have headspace for weighing food, and after I'd spent a day forcing myself to do all the gruelling things associated…

You can't imagine the answer to this one?

Would planks be bad for your shoulders? First of all, be warned that this all depends a lot on your starting body shape. I am a woman who naturally stores her majority of her weight on her lower body, and used to have zero core body strength. I do have fat on my upper body, but most of it isn't there. This all meant that…

Nah, I like kitten. Let's keep it. Best thing about this forum!

This isn't reddit. All posts within a thread are displayed in chronological order, regardless of what reactions they've garnered. Posts cannot be buried. Threads within a forum are ordered by which has most recently been commeted on, so every post on this thread has bumped it back to the top of the debate forum.

Dunno about what egg farm, but the farm might be referencing this study about stress on hens and the effect on egg yolk. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/20548080/ Disclaimer: haven't read the study, and let's be honest, I won't get round to it tonight.

Well, they would say that, wouldn't they? Unless the vegetable shop is situated on the farm itself, and has a high sales turnover, the vegetables have been lying around for a while. Between being harvested and being purchased by the consumer, fresh vegetables have been picked, packed, sent to a depot, and then shipped to a…

Ha. Not country level. Local one. I'm not comfortable with giving out what town I live in on the internet, sorry.

I won an annual tournament once. I know the people who won in the years before me and the years before me, and asking any individual one of us about our journey from start to finish would get you completely different answers. So, who will get you where you want? Asking winner 2015, winner 2016, winner 2017 or winner 2018?

Seems to me that this, like many other online bayoneting of strawmen discussions, all revolves around what science is. Science is not a religious tradition. It is something quite apart from that - it is a word for a system of investigation into how the world around us works and the results of those investigations. There…

Yeah, I'm afraid you have to look elsewhere for an explanation behind the calculator. This is the reasoning for it, including the letter that was the initial impetus for it. http://people.maths.ox.ac.uk/trefethen/bmi.html

I don't think the designer is doing anything that sophisticated. Notice how it's 5lbs per inch for women, and 6lbs per inch for men. There is a particular 'rule' that floats around that women's ideal weight can be calculated by allowing 100 pounds for the first 5 feet of height and then adding 5 pounds for every additional…

This woman died from suspected heart failure while on a medically unsupervised very low calorie diet. Heart arrhythmias are a known side-effect of low calorie intake. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1211954/Bride-crash-diet-death--eating-just-530-calories-day-11-weeks.html

I joined the gym at the beginning of January, planning to just replicate the cursory up-and-down lifting of dumbells and kettlebells (range 5-10kg) I did last time I lost weight. However, turns out that the time I go to the gym is also the official time a bunch of elderly people on some kind of official referral program…

It isn't just about losing weight as fast as possible. That number there is aimed to steer members away from eating below their Basal Metabolic Rate, which is the number of calories you need for your vital organs (lungs, kidneys, liver, and heart) to function if you literally lie still in bed all day. If you underfuel your…

Typo. That should be 4 foot 10. P.S. the 18.5-25 range for women 4 foot 11 tall is 94 to 123 lbs. As you can see, that piece of nonsense says they should all ideally weigh 95lbs. Gah.

Do you have any vegetables in? Peas, frozen sweetcorn, broccoli and so on aren't anything like as high in protein as tofu, but mixed together as a stirfry, you could get into the double digits for grams of protein.

Any particular starting recommendations for culinary noobs? I bought some cacao powder when it was on offer a while back and now I'm not sure what to do with it beyond adding it to yogurt.

Have a look at this thread. It's for people struggling to reach a calorie goal in order to gain weight, and the OP lists foods and eating strategies to help with that. Some may help you. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10326769/are-you-a-hard-gainer-please-read/p1

The best solution to Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder is to have a life where you can work nights and sleep during the day, tbh. Easier said than done, eh? When I was young and single and didn't have to work round school hours and having a family life, I had a job where I worked 2pm-10pm, and got paid an unsociable hours bonus…
