  • Good luck for Sunday @TheMrWobbly! I won't be able to watch this year but I'll be cheering you on in my head :D
  • Not that I'm aware of. As a fussy eater, the best meal plan solution I have come up with is to do a week of tracking (as accurately as possible!) what I would usually eat. No concerns over making it fit any calorie or nutrition goals, just a baseline of what I am consuming on average each day. Once I have done this, I look…
  • I work out in the morning before I get to work so that I don't feel so bad about sitting for most of the day! I also get up every hour or so to go to the toilet, make a drink etc so that I'm still moving. I'm only away from my desk for a couple of minutes, but it all counts :)
  • When are you exercising? When it's hot here, I try and get out for a run as early as possible to try and beat the heat a little! Not unusual for me to be out before 6am on a hot day.
  • I find it helps to view the exercise in your health app or exercise app on your phone. 50/50 which one will help it sync to MFP but it gets there in the end!
  • I've had a little look at one of your other threads and I think from what I've seen there and here that you may be getting a little bit confused. MFP is saying 1650 calories just to maintain. They have already done all the calculations regarding TDEE and BMR. All you need to do is focus on eating those 1650 calories for…
  • According to my podiatrist, my physio and my osteopath - my body is not designed to run. I'm hypermobile with incredibly weak ankles and sub-optimal bone density. However, I love running. I'm very bad at it, but it brings me joy. They told me that if I had to, then I should do no more than 30 minutes 3x a week. What helps…
  • I'm in the UK and if I let a little rain or wind stop me then I'd never get out for a run :D Dress for the weather (I usually wear my leggings, sports bra, top and then a zip up waterproof which I can take off if I feel the need) and just get out there. I find it easier to do this first thing in the morning and then you…
  • I've been having the same issue, but it's quite sporadic. Sometimes looking at my exercise in the Health app seems to help, othertimes I have to click "add exercise" and then come out of it without logging anything to see my workouts suddenly appear.
  • What a horrible time you've had. I'm so pleased you have managed to come out the other side. Best of luck with your competing and I hope the next phase of your life is more peaceful for you.
  • Commonly, yes, but can also be caused by being overweight. Depends on whether you were overweight when you were young then, really. I know that seeing a specialist can be pricey, but it may be better as a preventative measure to ensure you don't do yourself a serious injury.
  • If you're experiencing a significant amount of pain performing core work, it would be worth getting checked for Diastasis Recti. Separation of the ab muscles leads to a weak core & poor form, which could be what's causing your issues. Failing that, perhaps a visit to a chiropractor to see if you have any underlying back…
  • I told my neighbour: "Whatever you've been doing is clearly working for you, you look fantastic!" And I've been overthinking it ever since  I know she's been following a healthy eating plan, hadn't realised until she told me as part of this conversation that she's been going to the gym too. She's dropped at least a…
  • I'm with you on this! For me, it's people who don't wipe down equipment (or do it with their sweat towel :anguished: ) and those that DON'T PUT THE WEIGHTS BACK. That used to drive me crackers.
  • Thank you :) glad your shoulder pain has improved! I am curious what "freestyle" means to you, I've seen in mentioned a few times as though it's its own stroke, but when I was at school it just meant "however you want to swim"
  • Thank you :)
  • Thanks Snowflake, I don't think I was clear - I hadn't heard the rumour that it made you gain weight, but I do know that it's eating like a piggy that usually does ;) same with any exercise! I gained weight during marathon training because I underestimated calories and overestimated burn, so I won't be making that mistake…
  • I would love to row, I've always enjoyed using the rowing machine but I've never had the opportunity to actually get on the water. One day, maybe :) Thank you for explaining the masters thing, I actually didn't know what it meant :D I'm in the UK so things are a little different here. I think the gym I am joining offer…
  • I had read that Coronavirus can't survive in chlorine, so that's reassuring. I'd not heard about Swimming making you gain weight, but if I'm honest I'm trying not to focus on the number on the scale. I want to focus on my measurements and how my clothes fit. I believe the gym I am joining offers adult swimming lessons,…
  • That's helpful, thank you :) Lockdowns have definitely had a detrimental effect on my weight too - it's harder when you can't fob your bakes off on others :D
  • I did not know that! I'll look forward to seeing how he gets on with Strictly as the weeks progress then! At least I can't use it as an excuse ;)
  • Ahh thank you, this is so helpful :) I'm going to speak to them this weekend (they have a joining offer where I get the rest of September free but that seems a bit stupid for 3 days so I'm holding out for next month's ;) ) they have pool booking in place, I just want to find out how much notice it needs to be. I'm very…
  • Oooh girl, look at those legs! Amazing to see how far you have come <3
  • Thank you for the tips :) I hadn't considered lessons as an adult, maybe I'll learn butterfly one day!
  • I used to run alone in my local park, so I know where you're coming from. I bought a high vis thing from amazon that also has little battery powered LEDs in it . I felt safer in this because I was more obvious to those around (so if someone tried to drag me into a bush I'd still stand out while I fought them off!) I would…
  • You're absolutely right, how unhelpful of me! Yes, I know how to swim (good start). I am reasonably proficient, but I don't get chance to do it as often as I would like, which is what I would like to change. I used to swim a lot when I was at uni, but now it's just as and when I can. My front crawl and breast stroke are…
  • I guess it depends on where you live? I could tell you loads of places in the UK, not really anywhere else :D age & budget dependent, also. If you have Pinterest, I suggest looking on there for outfit ideas like "outfits for women in thirties" etc. Congratulations on the weight loss so far, you must feel fantastic!
  • Hi :) I'm not currently TTC but hoping to try for another child next year once I've shifted some more weight (my last pregnancy I was overweight and I really struggled so I'd like to work on that this time!) Happy to be a friend/motivation buddy if you like :)
  • Thanks all, you've just echoed what I was thinking really :) I'll stick to the exercises and ignore the meal plan, I'm happy with my current eating and am losing weight at a steady, sensible pace anyway. I will check that out, thanks ninerbuff :)
  • My unpopular opinion is... Soups and salads are not a meal. Salad is a side dish, at best, and I've yet to find a reason for soup to exist  I know both of these things are supposed to keep me full without spending too many calories, but I find the satiety short lived. I would rather have a sandwich (with some form of…
