  • Based on my own personal experience, it sounds like you are eating to fill a void unrelated to the food. Are you bored? Sad? Lonely? Stressed? I would start to think about what is it you are really trying to do by overeating. You need a new habit to replace this one, like going for a walk, bike ride, etc. Hope this helps.
  • It’s not a treat, but I often brush my teeth early in the evening to signal that I’m done eating for the day. Another idea is a nice hot tea, so many flavours to choose from. Hope this helps.
  • No need to comment on every life choice you don’t agree with. The poster never commented on the source of her food poisoning but how she’s trying to make healthier choices to combat the after effect. She’s looking for support and friends to help her on her journey, obviously that’s not you, next time maybe just hit the…
  • www.ohsheglows.com Amazing website with vegan recipes and the author had published 2 cookbooks of the same name. I'm not vegan but I love her recipes.
  • I’m a big fan of overnight oatmeal, so many ways to modify it to your liking. And all the prep is done the night before or even days before (I make 4 days worth at a time), so it’s ready to go whenever I need it.
  • It’s not a powder but hemp hearts are a great source of protein. 10 g in 3 tbsp. I use it in my smoothies and can be sprinkled on salads, cereals, oatmeal, etc.
  • Getting properly fitted running shoes from a shop that caters to runners could help as well.
  • There are other options for wheat spaghetti such as Go Go Quinoa or pasta made from Black beans (not a fan of the later). My go to for spaghetti is now spaghetti squash, super easy to make, you can have a giant bowl and dessert and not blow all your calories on one meal.
  • Be careful with erythritol, too much at a time can cause some nasty side effects. If I need a sweetener, I’ve switched to pure maple syrup, a little goes a long way, it’s delicious and minimally processed.
  • You might want to give this a read. From a blog of a vegan ultra marathoner. http://www.richroll.com/blog/slaying-the-protein-myth/
  • Yves has a Veggie Ground Round that works nicely in spaghetti sauce. It has the same texture as ground beef but made of soy. If available where you live.
  • Actually, plant based diets requires little diligence to get a balanced diet and very little supplements. The only work required is checking food labels to see if foods are actually vegan. But really everyone should be reading labels anyways to know what they are putting in their bodies.
  • Sounds like you are making A LOT of healthy changes in a short period of time. Just take it one day at a time, or even one meal at a time. I read somewhere that it takes 21 days to make a new habit, and it won’t be easy all the time. If it was easy we’d all be swimsuit models and obesity wouldn’t be an epidemic. Keep doing…
  • Been there, done that. Good news is you can shake it off, learn from it and tomorrow is another day.
  • I find that regular exercise really helps to handle stress in a healthy way. I do approx 30 minutes of combined cardio and strength training almost every day. It’s been a game changer for me.
  • Looks like you need to reflect on what is really going on. What is causing you to derail? Food cravings? Lack of sleep? Depression? Low self esteem? No real plan other than I need to eat less? Weight loss and gain can be complicated for some, it may not necessarily be just about food. For me it’s about having focused…
  • I’ll second the Simply bars from Costco. Amazing prices for the bars and the lemon coconut one tastes a lot like Rice Krispie bars but with more protein and hardly any sugar. Also a big fan of the Larabars. Simple ingredients and taste great.
  • Here’s a blog article from Rich Roll, who is an ultra marathoner and vegan. You might find this helpful. http://www.richroll.com/blog/slaying-the-protein-myth/
  • My go to recipe for overnight oatmeal: 1/2 mashed banana 1 tsp peanut butter or 1 tbsp. PB2 1/4 cup oatmeal 1/4 cup cooked quinoa 1 tbsp chia seeds cinnamon your choice of frozen fruit
  • Processed white sugar has been proven to be more addictive than cocaine. I really don’t understand why people are so offended by cases of sugar addiction. Trust me, no one wants to be addicted to it, it’s in everything and it’s a daily struggle to keep from bingeing from that crap. How about applauding his/her efforts in…
  • I once went to college with a girl who stated at lunch that she was now a vegetarian, as she was eating a hamburger. I think she was just trying to impress a mutual friend who actually was vegetarian. Maybe this person is saying one thing to impress people on her lifestyle choices while actually doing the opposite when no…
  • I would suggest reading the “why am I not losing weight” in the most helpful posts thread.
  • Make sure you’re getting enough water, thirst can cause hunger pangs as well. Maybe start with a glass of water or a cup of tea and see if that helps.
  • I just completed a 3 day juice fast after 4 weeks of eliminating my trigger foods. It miminized any cravings and made it easier to complete without cheating. Just like intermittent fasting, I believe there is value in juice fasts. If you feel that it would help your weight loss journey, then don’t let any nay sayers on…
  • I was in a similar situation as you. Losing weight will definitely help lower your blood pressure but I would also highly recommend cutting out prepackaged and pre-prepared food. (Basically ready to eat frozen food in a box) There is so much sodium, sugar and crap in those foods. Cook at home as much as you can so you can…
  • My ninja single serve blender.... love!
  • I can tell you with 100% certainty that added processed sugar IS addictive. Just because it isn’t for you doesn’t mean it isn’t for someone else, just like alcohol isn’t addictive for some but is for others.
  • The last several months of 2017 were hard, ate poorly, rarely exercised, gained a lot of weight in a short period of time, felt like *kitten*, looked like *kitten*. With a lot of self reflecting, I started to turn it around on Dec 28. Focused not just on eating well, but being mentally well. So since then I’ve lost 16 lbs,…
  • Amazing story. You look great and so beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
  • My goal is to get my borderline high blood pressure down to normal, to increase my run speed and to get a resting heart rate in the mid 50’s.
