  • Having to work unexpectedly and then crappy weather here in Chicago turned Day 1 into a rest day for me. Did some core work though. Planning 6 for tomorrow along the lake. Bought a night running light! Big welcome to even more new people.
  • Hmmmmm My heart is telling me 100, but my mind is telling me no. I'll go for 96. It's quite the jump from 70 in February but I want to push myself more and I think up for it. Secondary goal is to be a bit more active in here. It's really hard to keep up with everything but I'll try. After peaking with an 8 mile run in…
  • That image is HUGE. Haha. Sorry. Big congratulations to all the folks in here that even attempted to get out and make something happen. If you didn't meet your goal set another and take it down in March.
  • After a weekend of work/rest I felt fantastic today for my final run of the month. I planned to do a faster paced 4 miler to see how far I've come since the beginning of the month, not to mention 2.5 months back when I started this obsession. My goal was to do 4 miles with an average pace under 7 minutes. Nailed it! Feels…
  • @elise4270 You're a little jealous of me?! haha I'm jealous of you and all the others that are on track for 100+ miles (and you're fighting a bad knee). Thanks for making me feel good though.
  • Longest run ever today. Was only heading out for a planned 5 miler but my legs felt great. Managed to average 7:30 per mile and finish with a 7:10 mile. Feeling so good about how things have been going. Can't wait for March and warmer weather. 2-1: 3 miles (and 27 on bike) 2-2: rest 2-3: 6.6 miles 2-4: 2.5 miles (and 30…
  • Looking for friends that post messages, interact, etc, not just click the like button. I do the same. My interests are running, cycling, and eating right most of the time.
  • Supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow but with wind gusts to match the temps. Might take the day off from running and go 50 miles with the wind at my back and then hop on the train to get home. 2-1: 3 miles (and 27 on bike) 2-2: rest 2-3: 6.6 miles 2-4: 2.5 miles (and 30 minutes of core work) 2-5: 4 miles 2-6: rest 2-7: rest…
  • 7 rest days out of 17 days has me feeling like I'm not pushing hard enough this month. Not sure what it is, I just feel like I'm in a bit of a lull. Maybe it's the winter blues. The good news is my base runs have been 4-5 miles now instead of 3-4. Still planning to reach the goal for the month. 2-1: 3 miles (and 27 on…
  • Been a busy week. Some of those rest days were simply days I couldn't find time to run. Legs feel supercharged the last few days though. That's good. Hoping to log some mileage today and tomorrow to be ahead of the goal pace for the month. 500 unread posts. I'll pass. Hope everyone is healthy and having a great February.…
  • Running through the city on a friday night when people are going out to eat, getting off the train/bus, etc, is a bit of a pain. Legs felt really good tonight though. Did a ton of stretching and started using the addaday roller I bought last month. 2-1: 3 miles (and 27 on bike) 2-2: rest 2-3: 6.6 miles 2-4: 2.5 miles (and…
  • Legs were feeling ragged today but I wanted to get a little time in before a busy weekend. 1-1: 3 miles (and 27 on bike) 1-2: rest 1-3: 6.6 miles 1-4: 2.5 miles (and 30 minutes of core work) 12.1 of 70
  • @runner_girl83 I'm not going until this weekend. A couple friends here said the Fleet Feet store in my neighborhood has some awesome people doing the fitting. Online reviews back up the claims. I'll let you know how it goes. @everyonetalkingaboutGPSwatches I just picked up one of these. The refurbished bit always worries…
  • @WhatMeRunning Great job!
  • Worked 7-7 today and did just over 10 Kilometers on my lunch. My longest run yet! Knocked a couple minutes off my previous 10K time from a couple weeks back. Tried to stretch really well so I can get some miles in tomorrow but I'm not feeling confident. Every time I ramp up these longer runs a little it beats up my legs.…
  • Did 27 miles on the bike in the morning, worked, and then barely made it through 3 miles of running. Can't say I'll be doubling up on a regular basis but I couldn't resist hopping on the bike. Legs feel terrible today. 1-1: 3 miles 3 of 70
  • With the shorter month I'm going to look to improve my performance rather than up my goal. I'll go for 70 again.
  • Ugh. I didn't make it. Went out tonight at 10:30 after a long day of work. For some reason I thought I needed 3.5 miles to get it done but I just realized I needed 4.5 after scrolling back to my last post. Oh well. Feeling good about the month. 1-2: 3 miles 1-4: 3 miles 1-6: 3 miles 1-7: 3 miles - 25 minutes of stairs 1-8:…
  • @karllundy Thanks for the congratulations and thanks for the tip. I actually just purchased a new road bike to mix up the cardio. Forecast suggests mid 40's tomorrow in Chicago so I'm hoping I can knock out 30-40 miles after work before the sun sets. Can't wait! 1-2: 3 miles 1-4: 3 miles 1-6: 3 miles 1-7: 3 miles - 25…
  • @5BeautifulDays I'm just as surprised. Shocked, actually. Before my recent weight loss (275 in July of 2015 to 180 right now) I typically lived in the 210 range as an adult. I was somewhat fit but was never a runner. I'm going to take the advice from you and @Stoshew71 and increase gradually. Although I think I might be…
  • Beem busy the last few days but I will make sure I hit this goal. Not sure what to do about February. I kind of want to go with 100 to push myself but I'm scared of 25 miles per week. 1-2: 3 miles 1-4: 3 miles 1-6: 3 miles 1-7: 3 miles - 25 minutes of stairs 1-8: 4 miles 1-10: 3 miles - 30 minutes of stairs 1-12: 3.5 miles…
  • Thanks everyone. Appreciate the congratulations. If you're wondering (you're not but I'll tell anyway) I went to my favorite mexican place and had a huge combination platter. It was fantastic. My legs were tight all day today but somehow loosened up late tonight. I was feeling like a slug for not working out today so I…
  • Big thanks to everyone here for keeping me motivated. As a newcomer I don't reply to the many topics but I do read through everything and keep up with what's going on. It's really inspiring to see people from different age groups, climates, fitness levels, etc, put in effort day in and day out and take the time to post…
  • Legs are starting to feel dead. Planned to go a little longer today but I wanted to start walking a half mile down the road. I did set my fastest mile though! Been doing some p90x3 stuff in addition to the running and it's taking a toll. Maybe a couple rest days will refuel me. 1-2: 3 miles 1-4: 3 miles 1-6: 3 miles 1-7: 3…

  • 1-2: 3 miles 1-4: 3 miles 1-6: 3 miles 1-7: 3 miles - 25 minutes of stairs 1-8: 4 miles 1-10: 3 miles - 30 minutes of stairs 1-12: 3.5 miles 1-13: 3.5 miles 1-14: 3.7 miles 1-15: 5 miles 1-17: 3.5 miles Goal: 39.2 of 70
  • @WhatMeRunning That's an inspiring story. Thanks for that. Knowing how I felt the first day I went out to run I can't even begin to imagine how you did it. I think my biggest issue now is getting over the mental hurdle before I head out. I find myself focusing on not being able to complete the goal for the day before I've…
  • 1-2: 3 miles 1-4: 3 miles 1-6: 3 miles 1-7: 3 miles - 25 minutes of stairs 1-8: 4 miles 1-10: 3 miles - 30 minutes of stairs 1-12: 3.5 miles 1-13: 3.5 miles 1-14: 3.7 miles 1-15: 5 miles Goal: 35.7 of 70
  • Funny you say that because I said F it and set out to complete 5 miles today and nailed it. Was certainly tired at the end but I could have kept pounding a bit longer if a finish line was ahead of me somehwere. I think my fitness is there, I just need to get my mind to catch up with my body. Seeing all you middle aged folk…
  • Thanks (and thanks to @WhatMeRunning). I'll give that a look and get started on it.
